| Yeah, unfortunately the alternative to braces is often times major jaw problems. I know some people with said jaw problems, and bad as the braces are, compared to the jaw problems, they’re a lesser evil. Much as I hate to admit it. |

Here’s a quick story...
I had braces for a few years, along with a retainer that eventually stopped fitting after I had stopped wearing it. Of course, like most people, I had to get my wisdom teeth removed. Unlike many of you, I grew up in South America and the health/dental care down there isn’t as civilized as the US/Europe. They did at least have local anesthetic.
After my dentist (my ortho’s husband) injected some puny amount of anesthetic into my gums, he started yanking at my wisdom teeth. I started groaning and yelping frantically (as much as possible with the tools in my mouth), but he continued to yank as he described his favorite video game... a FPS Alien vs. Predator. Eventually I got his attention.
"That hurts!" I said.
"That’s not pain... it’s just pressure," he said. "So after I ripped the soldier’s face off with my claws..."
It was all I could do to finally get him to apply more anesthetic. You people who get put under have it easy. |
