There’s been a LOT of recent discussion about the new GP system and Forum Shops, and I’ve found myself answering the same questions over and over again, so I’ve decided to put everything in one post.
If you have a basic question about the system (What is its purpose? How do I get/give gold pieces?), please check the relevant thread in Admin Announcements.
If you have a suggestion for improving the system, please read below!
Can we get GP for doing X?
The whole idea here is that GP are awarded when you make a particularly good or useful post, as determined by actual users. The "Award a gold piece!" link and the GP bonuses based on article contest votes both fit in very nicely with this idea. Awarding GP for card purchases does NOT fit. Neither do character-counting, allowances, or any other sort of automated GP generation.
Can GP be traded for store credit?
No. This system is just for fun, and will not be tied in to the card shop.
Will X be added to the Forum Shops?
Items which provide alternate methods of gaining GP will not be considered. Items which go beyond "just for fun," for example real cards or moderator powers, will not be considered. If you have other ideas, please PM me!
How come I’m gaining GP so slowly?
That would probably be because you’re spending your time here hanging out in the Member’s Lounge, rather than making the sorts of posts that will earn GP from other users.  Quit chatting about the system, and use it!
