| Are their sales down? From how many people are on the d boards, I would think it is going strong. |

I would think that sales are significantly down based on the serial numbers of booster boxes available... At Gencon this year we were finding boxes of older sets with serial numbers in th 10000-28000 range. For Hunters, we were only finding boxes around 1000. Granted, Hunters had just come out, but Decipher isn’t keeping a warehouse (or much of one) any more and they said that they sold out of what they printed so everything that has been printed is available in the market. I don’t think that they would necessarily be shipping early product directly to the wholesalers since they rely on "brick and mortar" stores to keep the game alive. This isn’t proof, but it certainly leads me to think that given D’s policy of printing a small amount of overage from what was pre-ordered for re-orders from distributors, that their pre-orders weren’t that spectacular and thus the number of boxes of Hunters that were printed were pretty small.
Heck, I got some much belated product for volunteering at Gencon in 2005 recently and the serial numbers on the two boxes of Bloodlines that I got were in the 5500 range. If Decipher gets their warehouse stock last, that was a pretty small print run of Bloodlines as well.
Also listening to them last year when they were laying off people left and right they were saying that the gaming industry as a whole was suffering, which I can believe. There are a number of people active on D’s boards, but I would be willing to bet that a number of them have quit with the physical product and went to the online game entirely due to shrinking local communities. |

| I’d guess M:TG is booming, as it always has been...that thing is the grandaddy of all TCGs. |

| It doesn’t have to. Some of the Houston players are continuing with their league night (once a week game play) and they went back and just started playing with Fellowship and added a new set each month with the cards exactly as they were printed (no errata). They are now going through and putting errata on the cards to make them more playable (pretty much just the cards that are on the x-list). They’ve made some pretty interesting and fun decks. Sometimes it just takes a little innovation to make the game enjoyable again and get people out of a purely competitive mode. |
