Total newbie question: how do GPs work? You just arbitrarily decide when someone has earned one, click the "Award a gold piece!" link, and it automatically adds it for that person?
Also, what’re the culturally accepted ways to earn them? Just posting neat stuff, winning contests, things like that? |

Question one, yes, but only once every 15 minutes.
Question two, have an expert answer. I tend to give ’em to people who say something intelligent. and if you vote a 4 or 5 on a strategy article, you give the author +1 or +2 gp, but if you give them a 1 or 2, you give them -1 or -2 gp. I guess its not culturally accepteble to give people low ratings,
but I’ve given people everything from 1s - 5s on strategy articles.
As I said, have someone else answer, I’m kinda new to. And shouldn’t this thread be in General LotR Discussion? |

How they work: users can award GP to other users, usually if that other user posts something helpful to you, makes a really cool deck, has great DCs, wins/hosts a contest, etc.
You can only award 1 GP every 15 minutes, to prevent GP abuse.
So, yeah, to award one, just click on the ’Award a GP’ button, and it’ll show up immediately. For example, I just awarded you one in recognition of your DC skillz; now I can’t award another one for 15 minutes.
One more thing: GP can be used to buy things at the Forum Shop, such as an avatar or a signature. Or, you can just hoard them all for a status symbol (like me!  ).
This’ll be moved to the Member’s Lounge as soon as Dain confirms that he has read it; so far, he has only posted in the DC forum, so I’m not sure whether he is browsing the rest of the site yet (which means that he might not know where his thread went!).

I’ve only glanced at the rest thus far. It’s been tough enough just getting caught up on this one forum!
