I’m beginning to look at Magic, I’ve played the demos, designed a deck I want to build, and I may head to the MTG player group tomorrow. From the demos, its a fun game. The problem of lands is a little bit annoying, but if they just made more cards like Llanowar Elves, problem solved.
However, it cannot compare to LotR. Period. Lord of the Rings, with all its twists, turns, as surprises, is one of the most complicated, FUN! games ever made. (If you don’t believe me, look at A Dark Shape Sprang .Magic, on the other hand, is predictable, although they come close with a mechanic called Haste, its still rather a predictable game (yeah, there are instants, but you can even see those coming from tapped/untapped lands, etc).
So while magic appears an interesting game, LotR beats it by far. |

What if the hokey pokey really IS what its all about?

Someone PLEASE play NBarden with a combo deck!
Seriously, though, LotR has more surprises as there are more events played in powerful decks, but if you want surprises, play Limited (I play it and love it, I’ll be travelling for a Limited topurnament tomorrow, btw), i’s the ultimate TCG experience by far, at least from what I’ve gathered. |
