This thread is to continue the debate started in the ’Alien’ thread.

no one is going to be able to persuade anyone to anything on this. So...I won’t bother posting long backed up arguments.

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. Razz

Yeah. No offense GT, but I think people in general need to stop posting "pointless" threads on the forums. Like the Aliens one. All that happened was major debating, no conclusions. It would probably come to flaming.

And the Future Energy thread is just completely pointless too.

There are some site that argue this topic better, but the only one I know is Answers in Genesis. So if some one cared enough they could check that.

Some moderator on my Alien Thread said there is some solid proof out there that the earth is billions of years old. I admit I must disagree with him. There is more evidence against it than for it:

The Moon: The moon is drifting away at approx. 1 inch per year from the planet earth. A couple o’ billion years ago, the moon would be so close that most of, if not all, of our land would be flooded.

Earth’s Magnetic Field: The earth’s magnetic field is gradually, slowly, losing its strength. If the earth is as old as evolutionists believe it is, the magnetic field would be so strong that all life would have burned up!

Rotation on Axis: The earths’ rotation on its axis slows down a little a year. Once again, if the earth is a billion years old, it would have been spinning so fast that we would fly off the globe, literally.

First of all, you need to realize that different factors start different things. Even if the moon actually is drifting away, that doesn’t mean it has been drifting away since the dawn of time. It could have came along do to some factor that is beyond our means. Maybe we as humans have some influence, maybe it’s some kind of extraterestrial phenomena. Samething with the magnetic field. Just because something has been happening recently doesn’t mean it has been constantly happening.

And as far as the rotation of the earth’s axis... I have taken many geography classes since I am a geography major and I have never heard of this before. You would think the geographers that teach me would say something about it.

Yes one of the obstacles of evolution is time

hmmm I dont mean to prove you wrong, but I do not believe the rotation of Earth’s axis is slowing.
Going off common sence here:

Conservation of Angular Momentum would say otherwise
You hear about this law everywhere in Astronomy

The Earth supposively gains more mass daily than it loses. Thus the Earth’s mass increases constantly.
According to Conservation of Angular Momentum, this increase in mass will speed up the rotation of Earth’s axis.

Also, Conservation of Energy would make this slowing of rotation impossible.

and as for the magnetic field...

Scientists believe in only 1,000 years the magnetic field will have completely disappeared. The strength is dropping at a faster rate every year.

They say the Earth’s magnetic field has dropped many times before.
They say the poles flip over... north to south and vice versa, and they say this happens every quarter of a million years.

and for the moon:

I always thought the idea of the moon being created by an impact on Earth was a crazy thought of a drunk scientist, but that’s the only way a moon of that size (compared to Earth’s) could be brought into orbit around Earth.

This means that maybe the moon is young.

OR God set everything in place 10,000 years ago as you see it.
