Do we have any Terry Pratchett fans here?

He’s one of my favorite authors, if not my favorite. He’s written over a hundred books, but my favorites are in the ’Discworld’ series, of which there are about... 20-some.

If anyone else here knows him, what are some of your favorite books by him? Any good quotes to share?

My faves are Thief of Time, Monstrous Regiment, and Night Watch. Everything else is good, esp. stuff that shows Vetinari in his true awesomeness.

DUDE! Terry P rocks ive read all the discworld books and loved most of them. Sometimes he goes a bit weird and i lose the thread a bit but generally hilarious. Last book Thud! was crap imho though. My faves are Rincewind stories and the city guard ones. Best book: Interesting times, closely followed by Feet Of Clay.

I have many fave quotes and not one of them comes to mind at the moment as there are a lot of books and i get confused!

Good man EL!

Personally, I liked Thud!, but didn’t much care for Interesting Times. Not saying it wasn’t good, I have never not enjoyed a Pratchett book. I guess everybody’s different!

Feet of Clay is good.

The books about the City Watch are the bestest. Lu Tze also kicks some serious butt.

What was the first Pratchett book you’ve ever read? Mine was Guards, Guards! I actually expected it to be a serious book. My mind was changed very quickly. Everyone in my classes hated me for a few weeks, whenever I read that book, I couldn’t help laughing out loud.

Whoo!

Actually, Equal Rites was my first... Then Guards, Guards!, Monstrous Regiment and something else...

I’ve read Interesting Times, reading Lords and Ladies... Read part of Pyramids, but lost it... At least one or two others, but drawing a blank.

As such, I’ve always liked the witches (although... the librarian is good too)

And here I was thinking about getting some Discworld cards up in the LotR DC forum... (From Interesting Times, I think Rincewind would be the default Ring-bearer, but I’ve still only read a few)
Our time here is ending...

Think the first one i read may have been interesting times or mort. Death is a cool character as well cos he just cant grasp human life and its intricacies.

Rincewind is just hilarious. The Last Continent is very amusing, a parody of australia.

I read a few quite a while ago, but then the town library ran out Sad I read the first 4 or so, Mort, The Truth (or something like that), and Thud! My fave character is definitely Rincewind, an I named my Runescape guy after him (Rincewind166). I don’t remember any quotes.

DEATH IS AMAZING. HE ALWAYS SPEAKS IN CAPITAL LETTERS.

HA HA HA.

HO HO HO.

HOGFATHER, ANOTHER GREAT BOOK.

My local library has every single discworld book, I’ve read every one... except Sourcery and Eric.

I would love Pratchett DC’s. Maybe we could all help? Do what we know, you know? We’d have to do seperate card series, sort of, for each book, since each book does have its own theme. I don’t know, it’d just be cool.

That’s what the other ones were... duh...

Let’s see... Equal Rites, Mort, (some of) Pyramids, Guards! Guards!, Reaper Man, Lords and Ladies (reading), Interesting Times, Hogfather, Night Watch, Monstrous Regiment, Going Postal.

Possibly... Small Gods, Men at Arms, The Truth.

If we go by one for each book, thats 35+ sets/series... But it probably would work best with working on what we have... That said, if there are particular things (for example lore/quotes) that someone wants to use but is drawing a blank, the others can get it working...

Would we want to seperate them somehow, or put in one topic, or what?
