Okay. LotR is ending. See wraithful’s post for that. T&D, and a final 40-card production called ’Age’s End’ will be the last of the LotR card game.
Personally, I MUST have Ages End. But that’s beside the point.
In honor of LotR going down, I’m writing an article.
The Very Best of LotR TCG.
Now, here’s a chance for you all to participate.
I want you to help me with a list of what you think is the best 10 fellowship cards, and best 10 shadow cards, each of different cultures.
The winners will be picked, and I’ll write about each card, and a deck for every one.
Yeah, 20 decklists. A true FM-type article.
I just have to do this.
And I do hope Cobra keeps the forums around long after LotR goes down. I coudln’t live without this site. Well, maybe I could, but it would be a lot harder. Making DC’s here and enjoying the forums along with everyone really has brought my spirit up when I was down. I hope this does continue with only MTG and WoW to run from. After LotR goes down, I will go over to MTG, so long as cobra still stocks it. But with LotR I’ll probably stay till the day I die.
So anyways, help me with this. Gimme the top 10 freeps and shadow cards, from ANY set (not just standard, and please, no broken or X’ed cards. I don’t want my article to be a mockery of the overpowered stuff D’s been throwing out lately. Just... don’t be a prick and tell me "oh, well, you said best, so here’s the broken stuff." No. Give me the wonderful cards you love to use).

Well golly!
Still top 10 freeps cards, but you can duplicate cultures after the seven have already been used. |

So a lot of us are probably going to convert to MTG (which I have done already, to some degree).
Just letting you know so you can boast about it. 
Just a reminder, guys, I LOVE LotR as much as you all do, played it like a maniac back in my time. I just HAD to quit because it was just too expensive, with no payback (bigger tournaments). Also, to be honest, LotR is a very special game, in which it "ties" you with your cards more (you don’t want to lose your Aragorn to that Orc, c’mon, it’s AN ORC!), but MTG IS a superior game strategy-wise, and it’s more fun to play, becuase games take less time. In LotR, you usually can’t quite recover from a less-than-optimal start in a high-level match, but even so, it may take 20-30 minutes for the opponent to finally finish you off. In MTG, games go a lot faster, and the various formats make it really fun and versatile enough you won’t get bored easily. As I said, if you like TCGs, and like thinking, planning and, most of all, deckbuilding, give it a chance!
I’m adding some Top Tier Standard MTG decks to the Deck Archives (and they’re also int he Deck Clinics), so if you have time, try downloading MWS (Magic Workstation), in it’s freeware version, which let’s you toy a little with some deck designs (and every single card available if you want). Also, if anyone wants to, add me on AIM or MSN, I’d be glad to teach you how to play it.
A great game is dying, a great community does not have to go down with it. That’s all I say. And EL, write that article. |

I’d like to hear your oppinions on the best LotR cards, Felipe, even if you don’t have any opinions on the newer cultures.
I’d love to hear some from a veteran’s perspective. |

| Well... with so many different opinions... I don’t know exactly what I’ll do for this article. I’ll still get the top entries (if any cards actually get two votes) but the decks I build will probably try to include as many of you guys’ favorite cards as possible. |
