I’m finally back! I left about 3:00 pm yesterday for home, and am back in Wichita. I have, however, hit the ground running, and am thrown into some last minute work on a local political campaign here, which takes up almost all of my time.
As such, over the next couple days, I won’t be as active as I’d like. Thanks! |

WE WON!
I’m here on my dad’s computer at the victory party, just letting you know that we won the election.
Proposition 1- The proposition that would allow casinos in downtown Wichita was defeated 56% to 43%, 56,842 to 44,362 votes.
Proposition 2- The proposition that would legalize slot machines in Sedgewick County (Wichita area) was defeated 50% to 49%, 50,772 to 50,429, a VERY narrow margin.

Real vote.
And the crime rate increases 84%, and they were going to put slots a mile from our house...
The tax dollars don’t go into our community, they go to the state, as the state is subsidizing, we get a portion of the proceeds and all of that plus more goes towards managing crime. Bankruptcy rates go up from addicted gamblers, and families are ruined. All that right in my neighborhood, and I don’t mean my city, my neighborhood. That’s a personal reason for me.
But the crime rate doesn’t just shoot up within a few miles, crime rates shoot up 50 miles outside the Casino and slots. That’s the problem for our community. |
