Wow today was saddening. I sign off everyday at 4.30 in the afternoon in England and all you americans become active after this, because when i log in the next day at 8.30 no one else is online you are all in bed and i respond to all the posts and review the DC’s that i have missed during those hours.
This morning i came on and there were 3 new posts in the members lounge and 0 in the DC forum. Scary. That’s an all time low.
It really is becoming a ghost town round here. |

It is sad. After LOTR TCG died I stopped posting DC’s. It only brought back might-have-beens from the days when they were still going strong...
I really had high hopes for Ages End, but it was sloppily thrown together as an ingloriously end to one of the best TCG’s I’ve ever seen. |

I remember those days when you had tons of new topics everyday and would hit refresh on the trading forum until someone respond to your offers or wanted something from you. Strategy articles were cool too, and lots of discussions on combos and cards and everything LOTR.

Yeah yeah everyones still here yaddah yaddah, i didnt say people browsing the forums was low i said the posting was. Just cos youve turned up here to say hello doesnt mean CC isnt dying. Its a forum which is used for posts. Of which there are less and less each day. Its a simple fact.
Again this morning there were 3 posts in the members lounge. THREE! And that includes this post about the site being dead for a bit of irony. Not even TPBM game was replied to which really shows the decline. And there were 2 in the DC forums. One was a vote from SoP surprise surprise from the official spammer and the other was from a long forgotten member that randomly turned up (followed by a review from the spammer!).
My PPD used to be double digits cos there were so many articles and DC’s to review. Yesterday there was none and im dropping like stone to around 8 at the moment and thats only due to Dain and Thran in the DC forum that i keep it high at all. The evidence is here. No one posts anymore so browsing it will become pointless as well as there will be nothing to browse except long retired threads, dead posts and digital tumbleweeds.
I just think thats tragic. I miss the days we hit the record of 240 odd people on at the same time where you couldnt compose a new post without another one being created in the time it took to click submit.

It is sad, but people do move on to other things when their interest starts to wane. Plain and simple, Decipher killed LotR TCG and when they did that, they destroyed their fan base. Sites like this one which catered pretty much exclusively to that fan base are all eventually going to be casualties of D’s fall from grace. I used to be able to get 8 to 10 people in Austin for tournaments regularly. People didn’t like the rules changes, the sloppiness of the card design and the stupidity of loops that created auto-win situations. They moved on and now LotR TCG is dead in Austin. I still play fellowship block occasionally, but only with one other person.
There hasn’t been an infusion of originality in the game for a while and the game has stopped being engaging since there aren’t new strategies to try out. Without new content, it is hard to bring in new members and keep the ones you have. Without new members the community will die due to attrition and people finding other interests.
I knew this was inevitable, but it doesn’t make it any less sad.
