So I posted this in another forum. Be prepared to get your pants scared off if you’re squeamish, and feel free to post your own paranormal tales if you’d like.
I am one of those people that have had paranormal experiences his entire life. There is no shortage of these incidents (and in a moment I will tell in-full the most perplexing of them), but I must say that - for the most part - I am at a loss to point a finger at a cause. I am a spiritual person, but to pin guilt on a ’ghost’ is a bit vague. Most people see ghosts in the Western sense... which is a spook of the deceased who inhabits a place of prior importance. Maybe that is true, maybe it is not. But I’ve made purposeful treks to several old houses that have been turned into museums and almost all of the tour leaders I’ve spoken to about this think that hauntings occur.
Now, on to my stories. Note that these all happened to ME (except in the case of one story, which revolved around my older brother). I am not an exaggerator. What I’m writing is straight as it happened. I’ll try and make this as chronological as possible, and I’ll offer as much information against the paranormal that I can. After all, even with all of these incidents, I still hold myself be a skeptic.
Occurrence One
The first memory of my entire life. I was probably around two years old and I had been put to bed for the night. I awoke in the middle of the night (a rarity for a deep-sleeper like me) drenched in a cold-sweat. I was deathly afraid for some reason and began to cry out for my mother across the hall. Then, from behind me, came the most-hideous noise I have ever heard. It was a deep, freezing "shhhh". I’ve never forgotten the sound.
Now, that is a very weak story. I only put it here because I feel there’s enough personal evidence to warrant inclusion. Objectively, however, it’s pretty worthless. I was a baby. I promise the rest will be a lot more informative.
Occurrence Two
Fast forward several years. I am now seven years old, and my family is looking to move across town. A lot of the early parts of this story has little to do with me directly, so for now I will be drawing upon what my parents and older brother have described.
My dad found a house. It was selling cheaply in a nice neighborhood. The residents wanted to close quickly and get out, but would never really clarify why. My dad jokingly asked if the place was haunted (My dad was a skeptic at the time, as you’ll see), to which he got no reply. Regardless of the reasons, we bought the house and moved in.
Within the first week, my dad and older brother were stricken with some kind of illness. They missed a lot of work and school, respectively. Tension in the house was running high; my dad was working a lot of late-nights whenever he could manage and there wasn’t a lot of sleep going on.
I remember lying on the floor of my room with my door closed. I was reading through a little picture-Bible my mother bought for me. I was alone. And then my lightswitch flicked off. I heard it go off, and I had to turn it back on. This was a minor event at the time, and only years later do I see it as something truly unexplainable... and frightening.
One night, it was just my mom and us three brothers. We were hanging out in the kitchen. My older brother was feeling especially sick and said he was going upstairs to get some medicine from the medicine drawer. He went upstairs, with the family cat following close behind (for whatever reason, she began following him everywhere after we moved).
A minute went by, and that’s when I recall him jumping down the staircase and running into my mother’s arms. He was dead-white. He was hyperventilating. All he could say was, "Upstairs... something" over and over. My mom was under the impression that there was an intruder and we were about to leave out the back door. But my older brother started to calm down and explained that something - not a person - was upstairs.
My mom felt compelled to investigate. She grabbed me and my brothers and we started to climb the stairs. I remember going up, and then looking down the hall. There, I saw the medicine drawer opened fully. I thought little of it, but I was terrified.
My older brother told us what happened. He went upstairs to get the medicine. Finding what he needed, he closed the drawer and turned back towards the staircase. At the end of the hall, he felt what he described as a cold wind move through him. Both he and the cat were frozen by it. He turned around again... and he watched as the drawer opened by itself. That was when he ran back to the kitchen.
After that, my older brother refused to sleep alone. On some nights he would try, but he would wake up feeling worse than before. So we started to share beds. A few weeks later, my dad was in the basement watching TV with my mother. Real quickly, this house was a split-level. The basement was directly underneath the upstairs (where the bedrooms were located). So anyone walking around upstairs can be heard from the basement.
During the night, my parents heard footsteps starting at one end of the hall and walk back and forth from end to end. It never slowed down, and it always stopped just short of the staircase leading downstairs. After a while, my parents decided to investigate. They figured it was one of us boys.
So they came upstairs. Everything was fine, until they looked in my room. I was asleep, but my older brother was on top of me, slapping me and shaking me trying to wake me up. He was dead-white again. He was hysterical. He told my parents that he saw... something... moving through the hallway. But he never did, to this day, elaborate on what he saw.
After that, my mom called in the church preacher to help fix the situation. He blessed a cross and gave it to my brother, and did some other things I’m not familiar with. After that, the problems went away. For a while.
Occurrence Three
A few years down the road, my older brother moved out for college. I moved into his old room. That was probably not a very good idea, as I noticed issues with the room almost immediately. At least once a week my door would, uh, convulse, during the night. It would shake and rattle as if someone were holding on to the knob and tugging repeatedly.
And then one night, my radio started moving on its own.
And then, as the summer after my sophomore year began, things started focusing on me. I had just gone to bed one night - I had literally just put my head on my pillow - when I had physical contact with this thing. I felt a hard slap strike me on the cheek. It was like getting hit in the face with a basketball. It was so jarring that my eyes flew open. Then I gathered my blankets and decided to not go into my bedroom at night. I started sleeping elsewhere. But whatever was in the house followed me wherever I went.
I slept for a while in the front living room. It was around this time that the family cat began following *me* everywhere, almost a direct echo of what happened to my older brother years before. But she would sleep on my chest every night. On one night, the most evil experience of my life occurred. Honestly, I tend to skip this story when I tell people these occurrences... it just scares the pants off of me.
But I was trying to sleep when that cold wind hit me. The room seemed to get a lot smaller. The cat tried to leap off my chest and run away, but I quickly grabbed her and squeezed her close to me. I think she knew, just as I did, that something very bad was about to happen.
I felt it when it came into the room. My eyes were shut, but it was a presence I’ll never forget. The only way I can describe the next hour or so was an assault of images... I was force-fed pictures of the most abhorred ideas, things that I don’t think anyone should see.
I don’t remember falling asleep that night, but I didn’t talk for a few days afterwards. Eventually I told my mom about it, and told her I had to move to another room. This time, I moved to the downstairs office (the office was in turn moved upstairs). That seemed to solve the problem once and for all. I can’t explain why me going down to another bedroom would protect me from whatever was in that house. I won’t even try.
Occurrence Four
Now, this part is the most-thrilling and light-hearted of all the stories I have. I genuinely enjoy telling this stuff. All of this occurred within the same two-week period. I was 17. I was in the state band of Kansas, on tour in western Europe. I didn’t go overseas looking for the paranormal. It found me.
The first story takes place in Champery, Switzerland - a small village nestled deep in the Swiss Alps. It’s a beautiful place (especially for a Kansan who can barely imagine what real mountains look like), made more beautiful by the rich culture of the village.
I was put into a rustic little hotel located at the base of a mountain, just behind the main stretch of village. The hotel was actually risen above the village atop a small hill. A very classic, serene location. I could see the entire village from there. When I got inside, I was given my room number: 27. To get to room 27, I had to go up a flight of stairs, down a hall, up another flight of stairs, then down another hallway. In that hallway there were only two rooms, 27 and 28. They were completely isolated from the rest of the hotel.
I explored the room a bit, and found a small mini-room behind the main room. The mini-room had just enough space for a bed and a dresser. I immediately claimed it as mine (you try spending over a week with a bunch of stinky teenagers in close quarters and not jump at the idea of being by yourself!). So I unpacked my stuff and hit the town.
I came back a few hours later; the sun had gone down. I walked into the hotel and was hit by that now-familiar cold wind. I knew at once the implications of that feeling. I said to myself, "This place is haunted. Something is going to happen tonight." I went on to warn some of my friends (the residents of rooms 27 and 28, as well as some others throughout the hotel). They scoffed at the idea, but I told them to just watch and wait.
I gave up my mini-room to another guy. I slept with two others in the adjoining main room. After light’s out, we laid there discussing what causes hauntings. We never felt anything in the room. But the guys in 28 were not so lucky. About an hour after light’s out, they started to scream and rand into our room. They were yelling my name in disbelief... something had happened just as I’d predicted.
According to them, they were all lying down for sleep when their lights started turning on and off rapidly. Not the lights, but the light switch. They could see no one doing it. And some of my friends in another room didn’t sleep a wink; the whole night, something kept knocking on their door and whispering outside. They never saw anyone either.
The next morning I got a lot of reports of paranormal activity. I felt pretty cool, having called it in the air... but I was highly skeptic because nothing happened directly to me. I went to breakfast kind of disappointed, to tell the truth. I ate pretty quickly and started heading back to my room. I was alone.
Then, from a few feet ahead of me, I began to hear what can only be described as two girls giggling. It was odd, because I knew no one was around. I don’t know why I did it, but I started to follow the sound. And with every step I took towards it, it seemed to move that much further away. In this fashion, the giggling lead me on a chase through the hotel. I eventually followed it up a tall spiral staircase. By now, I was utterly lost.
I turned a corner, and at the end of the hallway was one black door. Nothing else. The giggling lead me to the threshold, and suddenly the sounds was behind the door. It was then that I came to my senses, realized that I had made a very stupid decision, and turned tail and RAN. I ran as fast as I could through the hotel and out the front door. I was scared out of my skin.
But after that, nothing further happened. Until I got to Germany. This is the final part of my European stories.
I was sitting in another hotel room at 11:14 in the morning. I was reading Dune for the third time. I was alone in my room with the door shut. From where I was sitting, I could see the door perfectly.
As I was reading, the door slowly began to open. By this point, I had become so jaded and accustomed to the paranormal, that my only reaction was a shrug. I looked up from my book and said aloud, "You know, anyone can open a door. I’m not impressed."
I went back to the book. But a moment later, that door slammed as hard as I think any door could ever slam. I looked up again, still unshaken. "I can slam a door too. Leave me alone. I’m reading."
Then the door opened again. I said nothing, choosing to ignore whatever was there. And nothing else happened.
I spoke to my youth pastor about that incident when I got back, and he told me I had no idea what I could have been dealing with. He was thankful that I didn’t get hurt.
Occurrence Five
Going back in time a ways... when I was nine years old I was at a friend’s house in his unfinished basement. I was, like always, by myself. At that point in time, the unfinished basement had only one source of light: a small pullstring light affixed to the ceiling. I remember looking right at it and then seeing it pull itself off. I was terrified and didn’t go back over to that house for a while.
---
Those are the big stories I’ve got. I have a number of personal experiences with ESP, telepathy, and UFOs. But I think those are going to be saved for another time. |
Riddle 9
When I came to Abraham I let him live just a moment longer. When I came to Moses I saved his life more than once. But the salmon... I regret to say I had a hand in its death.
Who am I? |

Wow, menace, you have had a lot happen in your life, very interesting! Thanks for sharing that with us.
Much of what you said has really struck me as true because of my own experiences with spirits, if that’s what anyone wants to call them. Like you, menace, I don’t really have an explanation for what I’ve seen and felt, only a lot of theories. And I haven’t had as much experience with it as you have!
Just to let you know, when I put things into quotations, it’s because I’m not sure if it’s the right word for what it is or not.
First Experience
The first thing that happened, well, I can’t figure out if it’s a "ghost" thing or an ESP kind of thing, or maybe a little of both? I’ll let you decide.
When I was about 6 years old, my mother and father divorced. My sister, mother and I moved in with my wonderful uncle Jimmy for a while. The 3 of us girls slept in one room, and Uncle Jimmy slept in another. One night, Uncle Jimmy was out with his friends when we 3 girls went to bed. In the middle of the night, my mother sat bolt upright in her bed and said, "Jimmy? Jimmy?" She didn’t mean to wake up my sister and me, but we woke up anyway as she called our uncle’s name repeatedly. She got out of bed and walked into the livingroom. Then I heard my mother say, "Jimmy, oh my God, what happened?!? Where are you going?" I heard a door slam. My mom said, "Jimmy, I’m coming in!" I heard someone opening a door. Things were quiet for a loooong minute. My sister and I were looking at each other, wondering what was going on.
My mother came into the bedroom, white as a sheet. She told us to go to sleep. Of course, we asked her what was wrong and where Uncle Jimmy was. My mother said, "He isn’t here. I just had a bad dream."
It took a while, but I finally went back to sleep, only to be awakened a short time later. My mother was sitting up in her bed, calling my uncle’s name again. Only now, I could understand why she was calling his name. I could hear him walking through the livingroom. My mother jumped out of bed and ran into the livingroom. "Jimmy, oh my God, what happened?" she shouted, "Where are you going?" I heard a door slam. My mother said, "Jimmy, I’m coming in!" I heard someone opening a door. This time, however, I could hear my uncle telling my mother that he had been struck by a hit and run driver while walking home from a party. My sister and I got out of bed and were shocked to see the state he was in, bloodied and obviously in pain.
Needless to say, the police were called and my uncle was taken to the hospital. The driver was never caught, but they must not have been driving very quickly because my uncle had no serious injuries (a minor concussion, bumps, scrapes and bruises).
But to this day, I still wonder, what happened that night? Did my mother "see" what was going to happen only an hour or two before it did? Did my uncle’s "ghost" leave his body and come home for a short time, then go back to his body? I wonder about this last part because I definitely heard the bathroom door slam the first time around. Did my mother shut the door while she was "dreaming," or was it my uncle’s "ghost?" When I have asked my mother about this, she says that she doesn’t want to talk about it.
Second Experience
I was about 7 years old when the next experience happened. My mother moved into an apartment with my sister and me. She met a man, and they started dating. The guy’s mother offered to babysit my sister and me while my mother worked. My mother thought that this was a great idea. So did I, at first, but a few days later, I thought it was a very bad idea.
The family was...weird. They actively sought out spirits and practiced strange rituals in their backyard. Their kids would tell me that they could feel ghosts passing through them. They told us that we couldn’t drink while we ate a meal because evil spirits would enter us if we did. Yeah, weird.
Then one day, a bunch of people showed up at their house. They shut all of the doors and covered all of the windows in a large room in the house. They lit candles and set up mirrors around all of the walls. My sister and I huddled in a corner, scared. The people all started chanting, "Bloody Mary, bloody Mary," it was so frightening.
What was even worse was that the room became extremely hot, unbearably hot. Then all of our reflections disappeared in the mirrors, and a woman dressed in white appeared in every mirror in the room. Her white dress was covered in blood. She seemed to be reaching out, as if she was pleading for help. It was way too much for me. I screamed and ran out of the room.
To this day, I still have trouble with being in a dark room with a mirror. There are mirrors on my closet doors, but when I shut off the light and go to bed, I don’t look at them. I can’t look at them.
I have told myself through the years that the apparition I saw was a figment of my imagination, brought on by the strange chantings of the people in the room. At times, I have convinced myself that I dreamt the whole thing.
But then I had a talk with my sister about 2 years ago. We were reminiscing about our childhood, talking about many different things. At one point, she said, "You know, there was one day that I actually thought I saw a ghost in a bunch of dark mirrors." My heart went absolutely cold as she went on to describe the exact same things that I had seen. She, too, cannot stand to look into a mirror in a dark room, even now that she’s a grown woman like me.
Third Experience
When I was 11 years old, my mother had remarried, then temporarily left, another husband (yeah, I know ). During this temporary time that she had left my step-father, we moved in with my aunt for about 2 weeks. I had been to my aunt’s house many times for visits during the day, and she had always joked about the "friendly ghost" who lived in her house. I had always thought she was kidding.
On the fourth night that we were staying in her house, I woke up suddenly. I had distinctly heard someone loudly whisper my name, right in my ear. I looked around the room, but my sister and mother were both sleeping soundly. There was no one else there. I was about to settle down and go back to sleep when I heard a noise at the bottom of my bed. I looked down at the floor, where I had left a book I had read earlier in the evening. To my horror, the book was moving! It was as if invisible hands were paging through it, shuffling the pages quickly. I lay, frozen in bed, until it stopped. I didn’t go back to sleep again that night, afraid that something else would happen. But it never did, thank the Lord.
Fourth Experience
Now, I never saw anything this time, but this is worth mentioning.
In 2001, I came over to Scotland to meet my future husband for the first time. We had a wonderful week, touring the Highlands and visiting tons of castles. Edinburgh, where we live, is said to be one of the most haunted cities in the world. But I wasn’t here to see ghosts (that was the last thing on my mind, lol), and luckily, I didn’t.
My future husband took me to a famous graveyard called Greyfriars, in the heart of Edinburgh. He said, "Let me show you the Covenanter’s Prison." When Covenanters were outlawed in Scotland back in the 1600’s, they were thrown into this prison, just to the side of Greyfriar’s Cemetary, then left to starve to death. They were then buried where they died. I was very interested in seeing this place. When we got to the gates, however, we found that they were locked. My future husband was a bit dismayed. He said that the gates had been open all of his life.
We later found out that the local council had locked the gates because people were getting attacked by an "unseen presence" upon entering the Covenanter’s Prison. Several different attacks have been reported and documented there, with many witnesses present at these times. People have said that one person in a each group seemed to be singled out, then assaulted by a "misty area." Cuts and bruises have appeared on the victims, who were photographed after the incidents. It was so bad, that the local authorities don’t want anyone else getting hurt. So they have locked the gates. This is one of the most documented cases of a "spiritual assault."
Happily, nothing happened to us while we were there, but we never entered the prison. Now I’m glad that the gates were locked. They still are to this day.
Fifth ExperienceThis isn’t even my own, but it happened to my husband.
I should say right away that my husband is NOT easily spooked (while I am ). He walks into graveyards by himself at night without fear. He wasn’t up to anything bad, he was just geocaching. Great passtime, go to www.geocaching.com if you want to know what it is (basically, it’s a global treasure hunt with a GPS). My point is, he is a big skeptic when it comes to the paranormal or supernatural. And he does not get rattled easily.
About two years ago, my husband and I were looking for places where we could leave geocaches for other people to find. He thought that he spotted a good place, up on a disused railway viaduct where people looking for our geocache would have excellent views all around. Our son was only 1 year old at the time, and he had fallen asleep in his car seat. So I agreed to stay in the car while my husband went up to look for a good place to hide the geocache. He walked into the woods near the viaduct. Fifteen minutes later, my husband hurriedly walked back out of the woods.
"I’m not leaving a cache there," he said firmly.
"Why not?" I asked.
"There’s something in there," he replied. He went on to tell me that when he entered the woods, he had a distinct feeling that someone was following him. He kept turning around, but no one was there. Then he started hearing footsteps behind him. He said that he would stop and listen, and he could still hear them, but when he turned around to look, the footsteps stopped. "I could only take so much of that, then I left," he said. I asked him if he thought it was a ghost. He said that he couldn’t say what it was, that he just wanted to get out of there and stay out. So that’s what we did.
I should say that we are not the kind of people who think we see ghosts around every corner. We’ve stayed overnight at castles and hotels that are supposed to be haunted, but we’ve never seen anything at those places. In fact, at one castle (Carbisdale Castle, up in the Highlands, supposed to be a ghost that rings bells there), we went for a midnight exploration of the place. My husband jokingly said, "Let’s look for ghosts." He was just kidding, of course. He said he was certain that we wouldn’t see any, and we didn’t. We were giggling the whole time.
Like I said, I’m not sure what all of this means. It’s just a few experiences that I wanted to share. Sorry about writing a novel, and I appreciate you reading this, even if you just skipped the rest and read the end (I wouldn’t blame you ), or if you think it’s a lot of bunk (again, I wouldn’t blame you). |

Now thats amazing!
I’ve only ever experienced two rather minor instances of what could be described as the paranormal.
Occurrence #1: I was four years old, and I had recently got a toy fire engine
for my birthday. I was having trouble sleeping because of a thunderstorm, so I was lying on my bed facing the wall and I heard a sound. Now this toy had a button on the bottom that if pressed would make the lights turn on and a little
4 second siren play. Anyway, the room lit up with a bright flash and a rumble of thunder and my little toy fire engine suddenly lit up and the siren played for about 20 seconds. That would probably startle me now but then I was scared
out of my wits.
Occurrence #2: Six years later... I was was watching a movie and Mom yelled something to me. I stopped my movie to hear what Mom was saying. Now our remote controls was low on battery’s so I said to myself: "I wish the it would turn on." And it did. I can’t explain how it started but it did. |

Forgive me for playing skeptic, guys, but I can actually explain a little bit of that in purely non-supernatural terms.
On the otherhand, I will grant you that in some of these cases, supernatural may be more likely than my explanations; I’m just throwing these out there.
M64, occurrence 1:
My cousin used to have dreams like that, where he would swear it was all real. Thing was, people would be sitting beside him, and could tell he was asleep -- even though he was talking, had eyes open, etc. I forget the technical name, but there is some sorta thing where people have a dream with their eyes open, able to talk, and are completely unable to, and it really screws with their dreams, usually turns them into sompletely psycho nightmares. I think the non-technical term is something like "night terror." This was a while back, so I don’t remember a ton about the causes, or anything, though.
Occurrences 2-3: Dude, why the heck did you even stay in that house? Have the place razed to the ground, drag in a bajillion priests from every religion in the world (well, except Satanism, probably) and start exorcising!
Sounds to me like it’s possible that some intruder was using your house as some sorta hideout at night. It’s possible to rig up some (most? all?) of the stuff you described to add a cover, and to keep people from looking too closely. Phantom of the Opera type stuff. (Angel of Music/Angel of Darkness/just some singing freak in a mask)
4: Yikes... As for the giggling, could’ve been to little girls who knew the place fairly well playing hide-and-seek. But to be honest, running was probably not a bad idea....
5: lights can weaken and fall. (If there was some sorta chill wind before hand, that’d be different, though.)
SM Exp.1: Okay, here’s where supernatural is gonna be more likely than my second explination.... My first could be called "supernatural" itself, I guess, though. I’m not a woman, obviously, so I have absolutely no idea how far this extends, but this whole "women’s intuition" thing would seem to be some sorta "sixth sense" warning. Could even be called physical; Einstein demonstrated that space and time are connected; this intuition could be tied to timeflow? Which brings my second, more likely explination (still possibly less likely that straight out supernatural): Time loops. No, seriously! Time is (apparently) dilateable and malleable. If some part of Time, for whatever reason beyond linear human comprehension, got folded back on itself, if could easily produce such prophetic visions. (heh. Now I’m attempting to scientifically explain prophecy.... )
SM2: Hallucinogen, maybe. Various cults use them for stuff like that. On the otherhand, screwing around with stuff like that is a bad idea, and spirits may very well become involved.... I don’t suppose you’ve ever read A Wizard of Earthsea? You might not like it too much, but that’s what the story reminds me of... a wizard apprentice tries to prove his power to a rival student, and ends up summoning a demon-creature. Rest of the book is sorta like Frankenstein: the demon and the wizard haunting and hunting eachother until the big climax... won’t spoil the story, though....
SM3: Uh... concentrated air draft, maybe? I know someone who was alone in their house on Sunday morning, was planning on getting some more sleep instead of getting up to go the church, and he claims a voice in his ear said something like "Just get up!"
SM4: Some sorta animal in the night, a rabid sheep, maybe, could easily look like "mist," especially in a "haunted" prison.
SM5: Animal, stalker... Scodland Yard trainee practicing his following suspects. Relatively easy to remain hidden in the woods.
GT1: Yeah, lightning hits the air, screws with the electrical charges, and can set off stuff like that. We used to have a doorbell that rang during thunderstorms. Pretty annoying, but no ghosts here.
GT2: Freak coincidence? If the batteries are low, it’s possible (granted somewhat unlikely to happen at that moment) for it to send out a freak signal, and do something like change the channel, or whatever. If you remember those old popular LED games, like the Football one, you could tell when those had to have the batteries changed, because phantom players would pop up out of nowhere and tackle you, even though there were now 2 extra opponents.
Okay, now for MY three stories. Two are easily explained, but were scary as heck at the time. The third is less so, but there’s nothing really "ghost" or supernatural about it.
1. I was real young, still hiding under my covers from the generic "monsters under the bed." Everyone in the house but me was asleep, and I started hearing these damp, squelching footsteps pacing the hallway.
Turns out, it was just the sound of my eyelashes rubbing against my sheets, but it took me nearly half an hour to figure that out. By then, I already had a very vivid image in my mind of what this creature pacing must have looked like.
2. I was trying to sleep. Some idiot down the street was blaring a radio in their grage about 1 am, so I had my pillow over my head (I ended up having to do this distressingly often for about two years). Suddenly, a wave of terror washed over me. Then it passed.
Replaying the incident in my mind, I was able to figure out that it started as I had shifted the pillow on my head, changing the sound of my bloodflow (think ocean in a seashell). Well, it made the sound deeper. At some point, sounds can affect the nervous system without being quite audible. Example, is a really high-pitched noise. You may be able to tell it’s there without actually hearing it as such. Low, drawn out sounds can instill feelings of fear or tension (one of their common uses in music, mind you.) As I shifted the pillow again, the feeling had instantly faded away. I don’t know what the chances of that ever happening were, but it happened.
3. I was about to fall asleep, when, in my mind, I saw Terror personified. I can’t describe it, other than the Being had a golden, somewhat triangular face with glittering black compound eyes. I t sounds stupid when I describe it, but this thing didn’t look alien. It looked like Terror. That’s all the better I can explain it. Needless to say, I was wide awake instantly, gasping for breath. My cousin and brother, whom I told about this, and described -- and sketched -- the Being, think I’m pathetic for being afraid of the thing, but it was bloody terrifying. No explanation for that one, except that my subconscious decided to take over my dreams a bit too soon, and threw out my deepest fear, or something.
Now I should point out, on the other hand, that I do believe that spiritual beings -- angels, demons -- exist and interact with the physical world. The degree of direct physical interaction, however, I don’t know.
I believe in the Loch Ness monster, too, and all its ilk (Bessie, Champ, the lot of them.) Cryptozoology. There’s some more dang creepy stuff! |

| Ok, so besides M64, SM and me, anyone else? I’m in a bit of a hurry right now, so I can’t share stories with you now, but if you are interested, I’ll do it later. I’d like to see AD try to help me sort out what might have happened, because as him, I believe some of those things CAN be explained, actually, most of them, but then again, some can’t. M64 and SM, for what I gather, are what we call ’ "sensitive", a lot like me, although his sensitiveness manifests physically, whereas mine doesn’t, although because of that I’m able to foresee a bunch of stuff. SM, on the other hand, seems to manifest sensitiveness by sight and hearing, which is also slightly different than me, although not that far, since our main differences is that most of her manifestations come when she’s awake, but either in distress or in a form of lighter trance, while I get those only very rarely. |

AD, I like your explanations, very thought provoking!
There’s one of mine that I should clear up a bit, though. It was SM4, the one about the Covenanter’s Prison. You said that it could have been an animal attacking the people there ("a rabid sheep, maybe" ). I should have included more information in my original post. These attacks occurred during the night and the day. The reports from the victims were very specific, and there were no animals involved. There were actual accounts of the attacks reported by the Edinburgh Evening News (a newspaper with a good reputation), but this all happened a few years back, so none of it is online anymore. Thanks for all of the theories, though, I never thought of all of that before.
FM, I would really like to hear your experiences, if you feel like telling us about them. |

Shieldmaiden wrote: Second Experience
Theylit candles and set up mirrors around all of the walls. My sister and I huddled in a corner, scared. The people all started chanting, "
Bloody Mary, bloody Mary," it was so frightening.
I’ve heard of a Bloody Mary. |

As I said, my case of sensitiveness manifests usually in dreams, although I see and feel some weird stuff while awake.
It started some years back (the dreaming stuff), when I was 15 years old. I started having a sleeping disorder, so that it’d appear I slept for, like, 12 hours but in reality I slept for 4. I lay in bed and sleep, but I wakpe up, like, every 45 minutes or so (varies from 30 minutes to 1 hour, usually). Because of that, I have A LOT of different dreams in a single night, and, also because of that, I dream about trivial stuff sometimes. Thing is, whenever I have a trivial dream but can’t recall it exactly, it happens. It’s like and elaborate Deja Vu feeling, sometimes I can guess the next few words someone is going to say, perhaps know someone is coming in a room, stuff like that, but it’s usually so fast that I can’t actually tell anyone it’s going to happen, since by that time it already did. However, I recall dreams from when I was 15 (when it happens, I can then remember roughly when I saw it for the first time) about classes I had in college, and I’d even finish up writing in my notebook before the teacher finished the explanation.
One other time, I was sitting on a buswith a friend, and the bus slowed down to stop some meters ahead, when he says I suddenyl "snapped out" or went into "trance" and said: "it’s gonna crash", As I finished the sentence, a car rammed the bus from behind (which means, due to advertising in the back of buses, that it was impossible to see the car coming, not to mention I was looking forward).
As for other weird stuff, when I was, like, 8-10, back in our old apartment, cupboard and wardrobe drawers and doors would appear open for no reason. Also, my grandmother died when I was around 5, but before that, she had a very bad neural disease and would spend all day on a bed, barely able to move and/or talk, somy mother gave her a silver bell, that she rang to call her. After she died, my mother put the bell inside a drawer in the living room. Sometimes, I thought I heard it ring, but then again, I thought it was becuase I had grown accostumed to the sound. However, one time I decided to go check it out, and bumped into my mom, and she told me she heard it too, every time I did (btw, my mother has a different form of sensitiveness - it’s usually a family thing - since she actually talks with her mother to this day, in dreams, and can recall exactly what they talked about).
Both me and my sister also saw our grandmother in our apartment’s corridor quite some times, althought I only discovered she saw her too many years later, since we never talked about it. Both me and my sister have what is called "awareness", which M64 also seems to have, which is an ability to tell we’re not the only forces in action in a given place.
Another weird case about that was when I went to pick up a female (more common in women, although when it happens with men, it tends to be stronger) friend of mine at her house. She also has some slight manifestations on sensitiveness, and we’ve talked about it some times, and she told me that both she and her mother would see and hear a bunch of stuff in their house, but that was about it, she never actually told me what she saw. When I was waiting for her, I saw a litle boy running downstairs, and I asked her if what her mother used to see was a little boy, white, about 6, brown hair. She went pale, grabbed my hand and barged out of the house, I had seen the exactly same thing her mother described.
Oh, just another nice one for you guys. First time me and my girlfriend hooked up, she was only a friend of mine (that I thought was very beautiful, and way out of my league), and there was a party at her house (she was the roommate of a girl from my class in college). Since they had a lot of extra space, a bunch of the closer friends crashed there after it, and I ended up sleeping in the same matress she was. At that time, she was seeing some guy from college, and he was even pressing her to be his girlfriend, but she was postponing it, not sure she wanted. We both went to sleep, and one of the times I woke up during the night I remembered that scene, and I rememberd that I had kissed her and she was also awake, so she kissed me back. However, up until then, we didn’t even talked about stuff like that, she showed no interest in me and neither did I show interest for her whatsoever. Even so, since I knew I wouldn’t get slapped or yelled at in front of a bunch of people, I did it. It happened exactly as I remembered, and we’ve been together for 4,5 years! I remember at the time, she said she thought it was amazing how daring I’d been. Only a long time after did I tell her I knew exactly what I was doing, move by move. Kind of cuts back on the romance, though...
Like I said, it happens a TON of times, so if anyone would to hear more about a particular type of story (seeing stuff, feeling weird stuff, object-reading - didns’t tell any about this one, yet - precognitive dreams), I can elaborate more on the subject. |
