I was bored, and so I opened up a Word file and just started writing a card.
What I got:
Misappropriation
Disruption
Target your sneak creature and destroy X of its items. Make its next focused attack +X.
I was like, "Wow. Hmm. Interesting." So I made some more cards, branching the next ones off of what I’d done before. These aren’t LotR at all; I don’t know what they are.
I just wanted to show them somewhere. Hopefully this won’t get locked.
(3 M) Sea-loving Beast
Creature • Aquatic • Slither
Focus:2 Thrash:3
Defense:4
While at a water location, gains speed.
While at a non-water location, gains limited mobility and thrash +1.
Crystal Shores
Location • Beach • Water
At the end of your turn, you may destroy this to take an item into hand from your discard pile.
Rediscovered Treasures
Item (Plunder) • Humanoid
Focus -1
Each time bearer uses its might, you may draw a card.
(5 M) •Captain Shold of the Scarred Hills
Humanoid (Scarred Hills) • Leader • Man
Focus:4 Bladed:4
Defense:3
Nearby Scarred Hills followers gain bladed +1.
(2 M) Scarred Hills Recruit
Humanoid (Scarred Hills) • Man
Focus:2 Bladed:1
Defense:1
When defeated, nearby Scarred Hills followers gain focus +1.
Uprising
Disruption
Target your Scarred Hills leader of X might. Make 1 nearby Scarred Hills follower focus +X, or make X nearby Scarred Hills followers focus +1.
Bodyguard
Support • Humanoid
When bearer is attacked, he or she gains bladed +2. This is discarded at the end of the attack.
•Hidden Reinforcements
Support • Reserve
If your Humanoid is attacked, make this a focus 4 bladed 3 Humanoid • Battalion • Man and have it attacked instead.
Scarred Hills Encampment
Location (Region: Scarred Hills) • Dwelling • Forest
Scarred Hills Men are focus +1 here.
(2 M) Dest Stalker
Creature • Dest • Sneak
Focus:3
Defense:1 |

When you do "automatic writing," you come up with cards for TCGs that don’t exist yet? That’s hardcore!
Perhaps we can get some ideas for tying these cards in with LOTR TCG... (Water location = river site? Defining keywords like "thrash"?) |

ok, interesting cards.
why don’t you start up a buisiness?
how do they interlock with LotR cards?
or is their no conectin at all? |

There’s no connection.
And I really don’t want there to be one.
But all of you feel free to contribute. If there’s some mechanic you’d like to see in a card game, let me know. Since I don’t have much fluff and stuff in these rules, anything can get plugged in. |

So I haven’t made any more cards (yet), but I did give this game a name.
Yes, it’s corny. Yes, it’s distracting.
But as soon as I thought of it, I knew it was right.

I love digging up old random stuff...
Here’s a idea of mine:
(2 M) Scarred Hills Scout
Humanoid (Scarred Hills) • Man
Focus: 3 Bladed: 2
Defense: 2 Nearby Scarred Hills followers gain
Focus +1.
(4 M) Scarred Hills Captain
Humanoid • (Scarred Hills) • Leader • Man
Focus:3 Bladed: 3
Defense: 4
Each time you draw a card at a Desert location
this leader gains 2 Might.
Hey Menace, could please define some rules and
do some more? |

Clearly, that Menace is insane.
Kidding, kidding!
Seriously, that’s cool. I’m curious to see if he’s done more since then.... |

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |
