seems very much like what we have here in the united states. granted, this is from Dictionary.com.

over time, the definition of words change based on the context in which they are used. while democracy to the greeks was an open forum or all its upperclass white male citizens, over time its meaning has changed. it isn’t incorrect for us to call the united states a democracy because the meaning of the word has changed.

Thanks inresponse. Our government can best be described as a hybrid between a democracy and Republic.
