@SoP: Let me guess, your a republican.

Odd that so many people on this forum are republicans. I know most magic players are pot smoking, poker playing, democrats but why would LoTR players be heavily republican? It doesn’t make sense.... perhaps you are all rich and have been given life on a silver platter... it would make the most sense.

I don’t see what being rich has anything to do with it.
If you compare average income of democrats to republicans you might see something interesting. Or not. Also I think it is becuase most LOTR players are, idk, younger? Mtg seems like a harder game and a game that most parents may not want their kids to play when they are still living at home.

My own political view are best described as different.
i wish the republican would act fiscally resposible and within their constitutional powers. These days there is almost no difference spending wise between the republican and democrats. So I can be said to be partyless. However on "issues" like abortion I would lean toward a republican view.
However the government, esp the federal level, has no business in that sort of stuff. I don’t see anything in the Constitution about the government regulating stuff like that.
That doesn’t mean I don’t think abortion isn’t wrong, i think it is, however the Feds shouldn’t have anything to do with it.

Most rich people are republicans. There are some poor people like Trailor Park Trash Rednecks that are poor and republicans and there are also several rich democrats.
But for the most part, rich people are republicans because they are greedy. There are good rich people who share their money and help others. But than there are others that just sit with their money and don’t do anything with it. They just want more and more. These people are republicans mainly because of financial and economic reasons. For instance, they don’t want to be taxed excessively but they feel it ok to tax the poorer more. Than the whole thing with bussiness owners who have problems with raising minimum wage because it would cost them more money.... it’s all greed.
Most rich parents (I’m assuming your rich since you are home schooled and thus not taking advantage of free public school education and cheap lunches) are usually republicans because they have money and because they have children and thus their opinions on things like abortion might change them.... so because you all are younger you base everything you know off of your parents. And their views rub off on you. That is until you become a teenage and start having a mind of your own.

I had a point when i went to start making this post but since than I just started rambling on and on and I don’t think I got my point across.

I would disagree with these statements wholeheartedly. People identify with a political party for any number of reasons. Some of them are fiscal in nature but there are many others such as views on the military, social programs, moral issues, friendship etc. The fiscal policy of the Republican party has historically been more friendly towards businesses and the people with money whereas the Democratic party historically been more friendly (taking up the issues of) the "underpriviliged" and those with less. It is not necessarily greed, but because they don’t want to see their money going to the government.

I take it you are not in the professional wage earning category yet... Trust me, when you actually get out into the "real world" and start earning a living, you don’t want to see 25 to 40% of your hard earned money going to the government.

Is not the call of so many people in the US today "Equality"? "Equal Rights" for this or "Equal Treatment" for that? From a tax stand point, if you taxed everyone the same, it would be equality. I have to laugh when politicians get on TV and start making claims about tax cuts favoring the rich and that with a particular tax cut "Joe Gates can afford a new Lexus whereas Joe Smith can only afford a dozen eggs." Of course the tax cuts are going to benefit the most those WHO PAY THE MOST TAXES.

As far as businesses and minimum wage goes, some of the complaints against them are legitimate. I don’t think you can just chalk it up to greed of the businesses though. If you want to find the real source of greed, look at investors (they span all political parties, walks of life and income levels) and people who are looking to make money off of the economic system that we have today. Companies have become so concerned about the bottom line since they have to answer to their investors, that they do everything they can to "stay competitive" which unfortunately means stemming money flowing out and maximizing money coming in. Wages and benefits are two huge outflows of money and thus directly affect the bottom line.

A common misconception. Many of the home schooling families do not fall into the "rich" category. Public school is not free as someone has to pay for it. In Texas, public schools are paid for it through property taxes, so if you live somewhere you are paying for it directly (own your own property) or indirectly (rent from someone else, make purchases from businesses that own property in Texas etc.). Also, per child, it is often cheaper to home school. My parents home-schooled me through high school at a cost of less than $500 a year. They paid A LOT more than that in property taxes.

Ok I know that that went way off of topic with democracy, but I can’t let straw man arguments and poor logic off so easily.

cheap lunches? Ha! my mom can feed me a healthier fuller meal for less then it takes at the public school.

as MH said Public School isn’t free.
also I feel that if i were in public school I couldn’t go as far as I am able to in homeschool.(another cool thing is I get done earlier cause I can move at my pace)

(I am doing algebra 2 in 7th grade while my friend who is pretty smart (and in the same grade) has not even done algebra

one other thing PSS if you want to persuade people hasty generlizations are normally not the way to go.

That sounds like a circle aurgment to me. "Rebulicans are greedy, and rich people are greedy therefore Rich people are Rebulicans.
That is simply illogical.

There are good rich people who share their money and help others. But than there are others that just sit with their money and don’t do anything with it. They just want more and more. THe reason tax cuts help the rich is that the rich pay a larger percentage of their income to federal income tax. Also tax cuts still help even us poor working folk.

Most rich parents (I’m assuming your rich since you are home schooled and thus not taking advantage of free public school education and cheap lunches) are usually republicans because they have money and because they have children and thus their opinions on things like abortion might change them.... so because you all are younger you base everything you know off of your parents. Since when are home schoolers rich? IF parents homeschool then only one of them can work. Rich people send their kids to private school. Also homeschooling doesn’t cost that much $$ wise, but is does take a lot of time and effort on the part of the parents. Whereas private shool can cost a lot (around here private schools are over $1000 a semester) they don’t require much work from the parents. I am a teenager and have been one for a while. I have changed my views from my parents esp on issues like age of earth, and some political views. But I have found that the arguaments for certian conservative views are stronger and more logical.

What was your point?

btw I change the name of this topic.
