Huge colossal BUMP. (Kinda)
oooohhh....my kind of argument. And I’m getting Ransom involved as well. And you really don’t wanna see that.
physcosick wrote: Most rich people are republicans. There are some poor people like Trailor Park Trash Rednecks that are poor and republicans and there are also several rich democrats.
But for the most part, rich people are republicans because they are greedy.
Republicans are greedy? Recent statistics show that republicans give 30% more per capita than democrats. No offense to democrats, but your statement that republicans are greedy is false.
There are good rich people who share their money and help others. But than there are others that just sit with their money and don’t do anything with it. They just want more and more. These people are republicans mainly because of financial and economic reasons. (See previous comment)For instance, they don’t want to be taxed excessively but they feel it ok to tax the poorer more. Than the whole thing with bussiness owners who have problems with raising minimum wage because it would cost them more money.... it’s all greed.
What? You know what happens when you raise the minimum wage? Let’s say that its increased to $7.00. Sound nice. So, Corporation A raises the salaries by $2. And let’s say they employ 1 million people, that’s an additional $2 million that they have to spend. This could ruin many corporations. And what happens then? Unemployment rates go up. Way up. So your raising the minimum wage thing actually harms the economy.
Now for your tax cuts. Let’s go back to simple arithmetic. Person A makes $200,000 person B makes $40,000. You cut the tax rate, who saves more money?
And since when did republicans want to raise taxes on the poor?
Most rich parents (I’m assuming your rich since you are home schooled and thus not taking advantage of free public school education and cheap lunches) are usually republicans because they have money and because they have children and thus their opinions on things like abortion might change them.... so because you all are younger you base everything you know off of your parents. And their views rub off on you. That is until you become a teenage and start having a mind of your own.
WHOA! Slow down. Homeschoolers are rich? Says who? Let me tell you why my family homeschools. We homeschool because the public school system is failing. The average ACT score for the US is 18, for homeschoolers its in the 30s. The public school system teaches evolution, which violates the core beliefs of most homeschoolers (who are usually Christian). They also teach other things that violate core principles of Christianity. I’m not going into detail right now, but we believe that when high-schoolers graduate learning about moral relativism and tolerance and can’t even read their own diplomnas (20% of high-schoolers who graduate from public school), there’s a problem. And the reason our family started homeschooling, ironically, is because private schools are to expensive. But now that we’ve homeschooled for the past 9 years, I guarantee that if we had the money to go to the best private school in the country, we wouldn’t.
I need to get my debate partner on this. Ransom?

| One sided political arguments don’t work. I could pretend I was demacrat, but that doesn’t usually work either. |

| Why would Pres Bush lie about Iraq having WMDs? Think about it. What would he gain? It lets him go to war with Iraq, but how does that benefit him? If you think it gives him oil for big companies, look at what iraq is actually producing. There is no logical reason (that I can think of at least) for him to lie. He may have been decieved, he may have been given faulty information, it is even possible that he is incredibly stupid, but there is no reason for him to lie. |

Note about home schoolers from earlier.
Home schoolers are NOT rich. Some of them may be, just like some people from virtually every category are, but the vast majority are not. I was home schooled for everything except kindergarten and my family spent significantly less than $150 per kid. We did it for the reasons that NBarden listed above. Better education, better values. |
