So you believe little starving children are evil? Is that what you’re saying? You believe mankind is inherantly bad? That’s got to be one of the most depressing things I’ve heard in a while.
As for Pocohantas (or however it’s spelled), how do you know she wasn’t perfect? You can only assume.
Now let’s change the money situation again. Let’s say it’s insurmountable for you, and you could never pay it off? Then what? Is it passed down forever? Or, what if the person had killed your father because he hadn’t paid it off? |

mankind has become (due to the fall) inherantly bad. it is because of humans that it is bad. it is because of me that it is bad. YES, you are right it is the most depressing thing in the world, that we are bad. and the joy comes in Christ. HE SAVES!
as for pocahantas, i know she was bad because mankind is bad. which can only be proved on the basis of the Bible.
as for the money, you don’t understand. i had the biggest debt. a debt that my forefathers couldn’t pay, my father couldn’t pay, i couldn’t pay, no matter how for up or down my family line couldn’t be payed. the debt of my sin. and God forgave it! there is a part in the Bible (a parable) that talks about thas:
Mt 18:23 "Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.
24 "And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.
25 "But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made.
26 "The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ’Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’
27 "Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.
28 "But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ’Pay me what you owe!’
29 "So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ’Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’
30 "And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt.
31 "So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done.
32 "Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ’You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.
33 ’Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’
34 "And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.
35 "So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses."
what it is saying is that God is the king, and we are the servant. God forgave our debt. (ten thousand talents was an insurrmountable amount of money. like you were talking about.) then since God has forgiven the insurmountable debt, we need to forgive others. |

| I’m trying to draw the whole money discussion away from religion so it can’t just come back to- I believe!! I’m trying to examine the principle. However, if you really think people are inherantly bad, then I’m not going to go there. I thought people were over the god-fearing days and into the just being good people who worship and stuff. Seriously, are you Puritan or something? This is really reminding me of a sermon we had to read last year in AP English.. |

Dude, i’m not puritin, i’m Christian. i know that sounds juvanile, but i’m sick of all the divition in the church, with all the denomanations and stuff. it’s sick.
if you want principle, the debt MUST be paid.
and if you think the "God fearing" days end, you need to look again. "fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the WHOLE DUTY of man."
we are not "good people who worship and stuff", we are sinners saved by God’s free grace, who worship and stuff.
Christianity is about loving God, fearing God, and keeping his commandments. we can not obey the commandments, that’s why Jesus lived, died, and was reserected. he kept them for us. he paid the penalty. and he needs to be given ALL the glory. |

There’s division in the church because back in the day, Catholics were being mean to the serfs and new leaders like Luther rebelled. I think rebelling against the oppressive is a plenty fine thing, so I don’t know why you wouldn’t support the divisions.
If you’re just going by commandments, that’s easy to live by. You don’t need people to be washed from that- people can live without breaking them. It’s the contrived stuff that those in power have invented to supress the masses that I don’t believe.
Is there a commandment that says to fear god? I didn’t think so. |

essentially pretend that you had a debt you couldn’t pay and would be killed for having it. But someone offered to pay the debt but would die in the process.
But Yes I would say Starving children in africa have sinned, but i think if they don’t understand/ can’t comprehend God and his forgiveness and their sins if they die they would go to heaven (essentially the debt hasn’t hit them yet) |

YES!!! there are tons.
1Pe 2:17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
Ec 12:13 ¶ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all.
Pr 23:17 ¶ Do not let your heart envy sinners, But be zealous for the fear of the LORD all the day;
Pr 22:4 ¶ By humility and the fear of the LORD Are riches and honor and life.
Pr 19:23 ¶ The fear of the LORD leads to life, And he who has it will abide in satisfaction; He will not be visited with evil.
Pr 15:33 ¶ The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom, And before honor is humility.
Pr 16:6 ¶ In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the LORD one departs from evil.
Pr 15:16 ¶ Better is a little with the fear of the LORD, Than great treasure with trouble.
Pr 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, To turn one away from the snares of death.
Pr 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.
Pr 9:10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Pr 10:27 ¶ The fear of the LORD prolongs days, But the years of the wicked will be shortened.
Pr 14:26 ¶ In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge.
Ps 34:11 ¶ Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
Ps 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.
Pr 1:7 ¶ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Christians and Catholics are not the same. there are Catholics that may be christians, but works can’t save you. i’m talking about the divitions in the Christian church. and the puritins were the people who wanted to purify the Anglican church.
and no human can obey all the commandments. what "contrived stuff that those in power have invented to supress the masses"? |

Ok, first, Jesus didn’t pull a fast one on God.
Jesus is God in man’s body.
John 10:30 "...I and the Father are One. "
yes God can send a believers soul to hell.
Matthew 10:28 "Do not fear those who kill the body, and not the soul, but rather fear Him [God] who can condem your soul to hell."
However, if he will is a different story.
THere is not one "good, perfect" person alive.
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death (your soul condemed to hell) , but the gift of God is eternal life in Chirst Jesus our Lord.( soul goes to heaven)"
Adam’s sin passed to all man kind. (unfortunatly) he was our "ambasador" (if you will) he spoke for all of us. (so all man kind would have eaten the forbidden fruit.) |

Well here Fear doesn’t mean cower and hate and all that jazz, it means you don’t to evil things because you know God is all-powerful and hates evil essentially. |

I told myself I’d try to stay out of this argument, but I have to jump in here. To say that some Catholics may be Christians is crazy - it’d be like me saying that some Protestants may be Christians.
Protestants, Catholics, and the Eastern Orthodox church are all branches of Christianity. To say that a member of one of these branches is not a Christian is just silly.
I’m not going to get into a debate about faith & works, although I do always love to quote James 2:14-17.
"What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has not works? Can his faith save him? If a brother or sister is ill-clad and in lack of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what does it profit? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead."
