Do you think space aliens really exist?

Definitely. Every ten years I have those strange circle marks in my corn field.

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. Razz

Fingolfin, I would really like to see your "proof" of ID.

It seems to me like you guys are beating around the bush and attacking scientists for trying to figure things out while you already "know" everything."

The burden of proof lies on he/she who proposes the truth of a proposition. You guys claim that god exists and created everything, prove it.

I, an atheist, make no such claims. I am pursuing a career as a physicist. Even though I know that my future findings will not necessarily yield absolute truth, I pursue them anyway because they will hold human, tangible knowledge.

The bible had the most copies of the gospels for instance printed the sooner after they were originally written. hundreds more then any other book of its time period, Ie th Iiliad, the Odyssey Plato’s writings(or maybe homers Think Very Happy )
Thus each book we have in the Bible today is the real thing. Very minor errors may crop up... but overall its copies were the most accurate. And PSS why would the original Christians have held onto a lie if it meant them going to their deaths? Being a Christian in early AD meant you got persecuted and killed. They didn’t "pretend" to be Jews or something else, they boldly proclaimed the word of Christ. And the disciples, considering they witnessed almost everything they would have known if there religion was a gigantic hoax. And most of them died horrible deaths. Do you think they would have held onto that lie? Would you?

Well the Bible is a story. There are bound to be mistakes in translating even of minor sorts, exagerrations within the stories etc. It’s pretty accurate, better than most things from it’s time, but don’t push the absolutes.

If I had a casue in which to believe passionately, I would certainly die for it. As my beliefs stand currently, that would not be religion.

And FYI that period was very short- when the Romans took in Christianity and from there on it was very popular.

On another note: Ingold, you need to take a course on this to understand. Pack challenges are EXCEEDINGLY rare from the weakest wolves because usually the alpha is the best tracker as well as fighter. The tracker finds their food. If the fourth wolf wins, the pack will starve to death or begin to go hungry and get a new alpha, more likely.

Tailbones do not support the body. People have no purpose for a tailbone- seeing as we have no tails! Explain the appendix? This HAS NO PURPOSE. Look it up. Seriously, no use at all in humans.

I was referring to trade documents as being completely accurate because since both parties had to sign them, they would be. Had to do with the claim that the Bible is the most accurate book from that time. It may be close, but raw facts are just plain more accurate than stories, no matter how well-told the story is.

except if the bible is raw facts, where are you then?
I believe it is.

oh the tailbone does do some stuff
The coccyx is a vestigial organ in humans. In other species, it supports a tail and accommodates its nerves. It provides an attachment for muscles, such as the gluteus maximus, and serves as something of a shock absorber when the person sits down, although forceful impact can cause damage and subsequent bodily pains.

the tailbone does support the body. it helps to keep the balance and many other such things. the appendix we don’t know what it is used for. we don’t know everything. the appendix might have something to do the body’s functions, but we don’t know what yet.

it is not just a story, it is much more.

as i have said so many times.

you can’t prove God to a complete point. just like you can’t prove evolution, thus it is a theory, that need proof to exist to accuracy. on the other hand, Christianity is faith and doesn’t need evidence, but faith.

But for a belief to be rational, it must be based on more than faith. To say that Christianity needs no evidence, just faith, is not a very good argument. In order to believe something is true, a rational human needs some sort of evidence.

Evolution is a theory, as you said. It has not been proven 100% correct, but it has gained support from countless experiments and justified scientists’ thinking that they’re at least on the right track.

The complexity of the human body is not evidence for god. Just because you can’t see how the human body’s complexity arose doesn’t mean it was created by an omnipotent being.

That’s right, it has gained support by those human beings who choose to seek the answers of life for themselves through research. Funny how they find a different perspective then the one painted by the bible.

I guess we are all evovled From Monkeys and have no purpose in life Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I for one want to have a purpose in life don’t you.I don’t want to die. And just dissapear into nothing.

Therefore Christianity gives you a pupose in life. even if christianity isn’t true i would still be satisfied with what I have done with my life
