Do you think space aliens really exist?

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. |

| PW has a point. A very valid point and I have to agree with him. |

| It’s always amused me when religious people argue against aliens by saying so why would god send a son to our planet and nobody elses. I always reply "Maybe he did." It blows their minds. And then I’m like "Dude, it’s god, he can have as many sons as he damn well wants and do whatever he wants with them." And they’re like "..." |

But you’re missing my point. It’s God. He does whatever he wants. Maybe he intended us to believe he only had one son. Maybe that’s the only way to keep people relatively in line. Maybe the Bible’s abstract value surpasses it’s literal value, seeing as the original function of religion was to control the masses and prevent them from killing/stealing/pillaging/plundering etc.. (If you need more explanation, give a holler, but it’s a bunch of World History stuff, so I’ll tell you in advance it’s kind of boring.) |

And who wrote that story? Oh, yes, EARTHLINGS! As The Bible claims, he had only ONE SON in THIS world. What about the others? And what if there are actually MORE than "one" God, and each one is responsible for one life-filled planet, or something like that, huh? Then of cours,e the ONE God we have here would have sent his only son. But what if the others had more? |

That’s an interesting way of thinking of it. I was considering the Earthlings themselves changing the story on purpose; I didn’t even think that they could just plain be missing something. |

yay i love astronomy topics!
Felipe Musco wrote: Actually, I think this is a stupid question. Not to be made like this, to create discussion, no. It’s fine here. But to have scientists say there’s no life out there, is just plain stupid. Follow my lead:
-Those same scientists admit that the Universe IS infinite;
-Anyone who knows A LITTLE science knows that the only reason we have life here is because we are at a perfect distance from a heat-generating star;
-Anyone who knows A LITTLE science also knows that the odds of that happening in another place is really low;
-However, ANYONE who knows A LITTLE math ALSO knows that, if you’re given a small probability, but in an infinite universe, it WILL happen, it’ll HAVE to, and INFINITE times, btw.
So, something is amiss here. Either there’s an end to the universe, or THERE HAS to be life somewhere else. And we can also take this to crazier levels...
There is clear evidence that the universe is FINITE.
1example
Everything in the cosmos show a red shift in doppler. Meaning they are moving farther apart constanly. In every direction.
Theories predict that the "big bang" would have large red shifts and would lengthen the wavelengths of the radiation to the radio part of the spectrum. Scientists discovered this radio "noise" everywhere in the universe. "Cosmic Backround Radiation" The look-back time for this is tremendous, so we are actually "seeing" the big bang happen.
Now I am a believer, but I also believe in most scientific studies of astronomy. The big bang does not disagree with the Bible.
In fact, when scientists say they are confused because the laws of physics are abandoned at the moment before the big bang occurs, it makes perfect sence to me. God CREATED the laws of physics, and he obeyed them during his creation of everything (well with the universe anyway...man and animals idk). Light would have been red shifted into infared. Then the stars would eventually show in the visible spectrum after a long look back time because by then they would be so far away.
ON TOPIC... I think there is a chance that life could be on other planets, but not intelligent. |
Some of the best scenarios on EE...
