Tip to new players: pick up a copy of Le Bonaparte. It’s only an uncommon (from DJC), so it shouldn’t be hard to get.
Why use it?
1: Cost. 16 points isn’t bad for a powerful battle ship.
2: Guns. Four 3s are nothing to sneeze at.
3: Speed. S+L is wonderfully fast.
4: The ability. Nothing can shoot at it within S, which is pretty much the best defensive ability in the game.
The main idea is to pin their best ship, so that it can’t shoot at you (but you can shoot at it!). It’s hard for other ships to eliminate your masts by ramming, and the only cannons that can hit it are L-range cannons (and that’s only if the ship that is shooting is farther than 1 S away).
The ideal crew setup is Captain Arathiel (captain ability + sacrifice), Helmsman (extra speed), Monsieur LeNoir (cancel an ability canceler of your opponent’s so that they can’t cancel Bonaparte’s ability), and an Oarsman (food for Arathiel ). |

| That’s a decent ship. I prefer Fallen Angel though. |

| I’m not very familiar with the ships yet, I just know the 10 ships that I have. |

I don’t have any ships of my own, but I play every once in a while.
Let me say that this game is a funny game. I’m usually laughing the whole time.
Why? Because how can ramming, sinking, and pillaging opponents *not* be funny? |
Riddle 9
When I came to Abraham I let him live just a moment longer. When I came to Moses I saved his life more than once. But the salmon... I regret to say I had a hand in its death.

I buy it at my local card store and at stores like Walmart, K-Mart, and Target.
The only stuff I’ve bought online were some ships from an eBay store. |

Pirates doesn’t seem very popular with the specialty stores like Mayhem.
Talking about funny, I love it when I have my Kracken ram a ship, and I have the tentacles all over the deck, it’s sortof like POTC II. It is more of a luck game than LOtR TCG. |
