ok look religion and science are both hard to verify...if you get anything about my post please take that from it.
Religion, the top three religions, well actually four hold to a world wide flood and science supports that...so don’t argue the merits of religion becuse if you must we must also debate the validity of science. |

A flood that covered the Earth in "40 days and 40 nights" would have to have been brought on by rain that fell around 26 feet an hour. Right. I’m sorry, but the facts do not support the fable of Noah’s Arc .
Quote: Um witches do exist.
What?!? I thought the irrationality of the Salem Witch Trials had kicked in a while ago? I just lost alot of confidence in the human race......
Quote: Not every thing has a logical explanation. Its called faith
You’re right, faith doesn’t have a logical explanation. Take a faithful Christian and a faithful Muslim. Their views contradict. They cannot possibly both be correct in their views of absolute truth. Therefore, faith cannot manifest absolute truth.
Without faith, religion falls flat on its face. Do you not see the absurdities here? Religion in its entirety is based on an illogical act. Do you ever wonder why god didn’t make his "proof of existance" so clear cut? Do you ever wonder why god created logic at all? |

I don’t believe in a god.
I’m trying to get you to realize the futility of your argument. And anyway, someone stating there is a god in no way creates a god. Please tell me you at least see this: god’s existance /non-existance is not determined by your belief. It is already set in stone, whichever way it my lie. |

Someone stating there isn’t a God in no way prevents there from being a God. Please tell me you at least see this: God’s existance /non-existance is not determined by your dis-belief. It is already set in stone, whichever way it may lie.
I personally believe the evidence of God is overwhelmingly evident in nature.
As for one of your earlier points:
Loosechange911 wrote: You’re right, faith doesn’t have a logical explanation. Take a faithful Christian and a faithful Muslim. Their views contradict. There is a big difference between logic, faith, truth, and particularly absolute truth. There can be only one absolute truth, not many absolute truths, yet logic can lead to many different and opposing views based on the interpretation of the available information. Faith by its very nature is illogical since it is putting trust in something that cannot be proved. Your above statement logically looks like this:
A claims it is true
B claims it is true
A conflicts with B therefore neither can be true.
A logical statement and a true statement would be:
A claims it is true
B claims it is true
A conflicts with B, therefore both can’t be true, but A or B can be true.
You are not right in saying that faith cannot be manifest (defn. 3) in absolute truth, but faith can manifest absolute truth.
I would say though that absolute truth exists regardless of faith because it self existent. |

I do 100% agree that Christianity could be the absolute truth. All I’m saying is that absolute truth is there regardless of one’s faith. My point in that deduction was not to prove Christianity wrong, just to show how faith is incompatible with logic.
The problem is that a majority of the population actual believes that their belief IS the absolute truth. It is not until one sees that one’s belief is irrelevant in this manner that one could take a look at the bigger picture. |

ok what is believe is that until the time of the flood, there was no rain upon the earth.
It was all stored up in the atmosphere. (that is how people lived so long, it blocked out all UV rays useless bit of information) back on track. if it had not rained for say 1,000-1,500 years (mabey more) there would be alot of water in the sky. not only that, but you had the water under the ground that exploded up. so that is alot of water...
to Phycosick.
I have to firmly disagree on the "God abandoned me" part.
God will not abandon you. "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
God may have been testing your faith, or been trying to show you something though the problems. Plus, trials will come in life. there is no escaping it. Satan is on the prowl, and the world is sinful. to blame it on God is wrong.

| But you guys claimed that God does not interfere. If he interfered in our lives then innocent people wouldn’t die, etc, etc. So, don’t contradict ourselves. This is one of the things MikeAD was talking about. |

The problem is that a majority of the population actual believes that their belief IS the absolute truth. It is not until one sees that one’s belief is irrelevant in this manner that one could take a look at the bigger picture. You admit that there is absolute truth. Could you define that? If truth is absolute there is no change in it regardless of faith, belief or logic. It supersedes them all. People can believe that something is absolute truth when in reality it is nothing but a lie with some truth to it. So I agree with you there.
The question you should answer is: How do we know what absolute truth is? If it exists, then it must be knowable. If it is knowable then where is it found?
If we can know absolute truth then we should be able to logically look at absolute truth and determine what conforms to and exhibits absolute truth.
So one more question. Is faith with a foundation of absolute truth illogical? |
