| It has changed! There use to be no such thing as the new testament. It was just the torah. Then things happened and new issues came up so they added books. Then the New Testament popped up then stoies were added to that. The bible didn’t just show up one day. |

ok here is how it is laid out.
the old testament: the events before Christ, and the history, plus all the prophasies revieling Christ’s first coming.
new testament: Christ’s coming, His teaching, the other teachers (paul, Peter, John...), and the prophaseis of his second coming.
The bible has not changed.
The new testament is part of the bible, because it is the revalation of Christ’s coming and his teaching...it is the continuation of the Old Testament.
oh course it didn’t pop up, it was writen by man, which takes time. but it was told to man by God, and man wrote it.
Ok, as far as the marrage topic, God wanted 1 man 1 women. you know this from the Garden of Eden. God made 1 man 1 women.
no humanity has changed, trying to part from the Bible, but they can’t depart from it. they can turn from it, reject it, but it is still there, covering everything. |

The Bible is actually one the most contradictory books ever written. It’s simply absurd. For just a handful of the hundreds of self contradictions, follow this link:
http://www.ebonmusings.org/atheism/biblecontra.html
The most archaelogical evidence....are you kidding me? Is Sean Hannity your best friend? Let me ask you a few questions. How old do you think the earth is? Do you think Noah’s flood actual occured? Do you think dinosaurs roamed the earth along with humans?
You are aware that the Bible claims the universe is geocentric, with the Earth at the center, and around 6000 years old. It also claims the existance of witches and dragons.
Did you know how many secular sources documented the life of Jesus Christ? ZERO. There were plenty of course, but not a single one of the authors was born until about 30 years after Christ’s alleged death. Shocking that his display of miraculous events went completely unnoticed in the most documented time of the antiquities!
You are completely right in stating that smartness does not necessarily mean correctness. I’m well aware of the fallacies of some scientists, especially on the topic of cold fusion. But I at least give my gratitiude to scientists for attempting to find answers instead of accepting "truths" without rational justification.
TheHobbit13:
I really doubt you’re five years old. If you claim that your "info" is true, I encourage you to share it with logical justification.
I have read some of those contradictions before. Some are just taking it out of context, like the difference beetween the new and old testement is God trying to relate to his people.
Do you even read the news, David’s palace, Found evidence of major propheses, like the destruction of Tyre and the Roman desruction of Jerusalem match so perfectly with arealogical evidence and yet have been proven to have been written hundreds of years before it happened. And in ancient time secular sources were quite often made by unrespectable authors, and one of the most respected historians Joseph of Aramathea of something like that had more accurate accounts on all subjects. It says in the Bible that many people hate Jesus and the Christians and wrote unaccurate stories and downright lies.
But I still have more to say... |

I find myself with Fingolfin. many of those "contradictions" are only taken out of context, and the writers put things as they saw them (or were told by God) what happend.
for instance,
one verse says Judas hiscariot hung himself and he died. (don’t remember the verse)
while yet another verse says Judas fell from a cliff and his guts brust out.
this is not a contradictory:
what was common in those days was, when a person hung himself, he did it over clifts on the branches protruding from th cliff. but those branches were not strong enough to hold a man for long, so they (the branchs) would break and the body would fall on sharp rocks down below bursting there guts. |

How did David kill Goliath?
With a sling: 1 Samuel 17:49-50
"And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David."
With a sword: 1 Samuel 17:51
"Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith."
Am I missing something here? Don’t these consecutive verses completely contradict each other? |

Thats actually not a contradiciton because he didn’t have a sword so he ran and took it from the philistine and killed him with that sword.
but when I say contradictions i mean like: man was created in the image of god but man is evil. Man is not evil but they have original sin. God has unconditional love and is always forgiving but if you do something bad he will send you to hell or Purgatory where you could wait or suffer for all eternity.
On campus, there is a preacher who stands there and yells at the kids. Calls the girls whores and the guys various names. This guy gets in to heaven? He’s giving "god" a bad name. But thats not my point. Along time ago I thought of something and it was reassured by him preaching a couple weeks ago. He compared God to Santa. Now it baffled me for a second why he would compare God to an imaginary character but soon I was astonished by the irony.
I made this comparison a long time ago. Think about it, parents always tell their kids "if your good you get presents but if your bad you get coal". They are scaring their kids into belieinvg in this santa so they will behave. God is the same way, it is a parental method to put morals and fear into their children. If you don’tbelieve that, I have some examples from a Morman family that I am friends with. But in the case of God, the presents are heaven and the coal is hell. It’s the same thing. It’s all a way of making people live a certian way. Which is perfectly fine. Santa, he brings joy to the children and make them be good for a specific reason be it materialistic or not. But God, he does the same thing but it’s more like fear. Belief in God created hatred to those non believers because you guys are the right ones. Wars are fought over it. Blood spilt through the centeries. Santa doesn’t cause mass death.
And about the bible being written by God. I’m going to write a book. And I am going to get a couple friends to support it. And in it I’m going to have a bunch of characters and important life lessons. And also in it, I’m going to say that I was told everything by God. God read me the words and I wrote them down. It’s essentially the same thing. Except in today’s day and age if I was to do that, I’d be discarded as a pyscho, one of those guys who stand out on the street and yell "the rapture is comin!". The only difference is back in those days, the mass public was gullible enough to belief in that kind of stuff. |

respectfully, that was incorrect. Let’s start from the begginning. Made in the image of God mean,"like God" not God himself. God cannot do evil therefore on that assumtion we have already strayed from God. And God doesn’t want to send people to Hell or put you in any other unheathy place, so he gave us the Bible and Jesus and preachers and then gave us the option of free choice. Free choice, the basis of the U.S. and yet that freedom is also our doom. God hasn’t said Bobby will go to heaven and Billy wont. NOT AT ALL, we are given a choice at which he show you the right way to go. Revalations says, "Jesus is knocking at the door to your heart," and all you need is to let him in, but instead you lock the door and say back,"I don’t need to be saved because you didn’t create me. I evolved and by my intelligence and superior condition above the monkeys I worked my way up to this. And if that were true then who would need God.
I would say that Santa can be compared to Jesus, exept this. Santa only gives presents, Jesus gives eternal life.
It’s not whether you were bad or good or what you’ve done or what you will do, but what matters is if you have accepted Jesus as your savior. Do you think that a man preaching peace caused all that blood shed or do you think it was human greed and pride showing through a religious veil. Now god didn’t say not to fight: in fact, in matthew 28 he said, "pick up your swords..." but that doen’t mean slaughter everyone in sight.
If you compare every Christian you know to Mormans. Then you’re looking at a very poor reflection of God. I don’t think I would try to compare myself to Mormans.
And I’ve still got more to say... |

Wow, this is entertaining.
The good thing about the Bbile is you can find any scrripture to back up any claim or veiw. You can find ones that support drug use and alchohol and those that condem them, you can find those that support birth control and those that condem...its not about that...look if you base your relationship with God on a book you are sorely out of luck...theres far more to being a Christian then knowing the Bible, hell anyone can study the Bible what does that mean.
And for those who criticize the historical validity of the hebrew scriptures....stop becasue they are backed by Mespotamian and other texts of the time, so thats a mute point. |
