I thought you frowned upon GP begging? Or does that only apply after the wecoming ceremony?
At any rate. If you are not a spammer and you don’t insult people then you are more than welcome.
AS I SAID, I was not "GP begging"...just pointing out that those who award GPs should do so when the recipient is deserving, not as a welcome present.
It was involuntary begging punished by being given GP. |

Look, I’m not pleased that my quasi-rant resulted in two GPs for me - it was not my end goal, which I’ve previously stated, twice now.
Isn’t there a post somewhere that lays out how and why GPs should be awarded? I think they’re a great system to encourage active and positive participation, and I hate seeing it reduced to something that members feel is more right than privilege. |

GP or "gold pieces" here are similar to "karma" or "points" on some other forums. Users with lots of GP are generally users who have been around for a while and contributed quite a bit to our player community. They can be accumulated as a sort of status symbol, and/or spent at the Forum Shops (not to be confused with the real card shop!) to buy fun items for your forum account.
The only official rule about GP is: don’t beg.
I have no intention of setting specific guidelines for awarding GP. (They’d be unenforceable anyway.) The whole idea is to reward people who make "good" posts. Whether that means a solid decklist, an insightful comment, a question answered, or simply something that makes you laugh, doesn’t really matter -- if you like a post, it’s "good" as far as I’m concerned.
Awarding GP as a way of welcoming new users isn’t exactly what the system was intended for, but as long as we’re talking about small amounts given with no strings attached, I don’t have a problem with it.

Like I said, I’m not out to complain or try to get free GP, but I really think that these "welcome" GP’s are getting a little out of hand and that they should be handed out with a little more consideration for deservedness. (Not that I don’t think you won’t be a valued member of the CC Forums Community, shieldelf, but all you’ve said was "hi" )
I think people just need to remember to click the Gp button every chance they get,
I have givin out roughly 400 GP in the last 3 weeks. (For example I have given 40 to gagnut)
So I think alot folks forget that they can give GP. |

| whoa this has gone on for a while. Whats the harm in giving someone new enough GP to buy a sig and avatar? That is why I hand them out to all new members how post a bit. once they have one or the other I normally stop. |

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. |
