| i think most people could write better than "poor Chris". i’m not sure if i can, but i think my story is better. unfortunately a good story can be killed by a bad author. |

| just because a bunch of guys like me like to read page-turners no matter how bad they are written, doesn’t mean he deserves IDK to be immune to criticism. Even IMO really good authors like Eoin Colfer or Timothy Zahn could be criticized. |

Bestseller lists tell you the quality of their marketing, not writing.
Although for a shameless rip-off with an average-level writer, it was pretty good. |

I saw through the shoddy rip-offs and cliches of Eragon pretty easily (I mean, even the name... Eragon... Aragorn... ). The only reason that series has done so well is the time in which it released: just after the LotR trilogy wrapped, when there was a big demand for fantasy trilogies.
I myself was writing myself a pretty little book during the winter, but forced myself to abort it when I realized how hopelessly over my head it was. I’ve since moved on to more ’suitable’ story for where I am right now. Who knows. |

Although I do have to hand it to Chris...he got his book published. Hopefully I’ll get that far.
Before that, of course, I need to make my books long enough. I think my books are averaging about 300 pages each...and I’m not sure if that’ll be enough. I hope so. |

| 300 pages at size 12 font (TimesNewRoman) should be plenty, based on what I’ve heard. Anyway, that’s the length I’m shooting for. I have yet to get that long. |

| treasure island is only like 200 some pages and it is a classic. the chronicles of narnia are usually 100 some and those are good. 300 pages should be fine, especially since computer pages are generally larger than book pages. |
