Yeah, I agree with the, say, 4-5 posts above, that THOROUGHLY discuss guns and how good or bad they may be... |

Some of the things i have read just make me fear for you... i am also rather sorry...
but i will end this post with something a little more untopic... and it is on par with much that you people are discussing...

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. |

a la solicita de bobtheorc y sop, yo soy aqui.
I’ll start out in saying that even though we have our differences on many... ummm.... MANY things (thats better) I too believe gun control is pointless. Perhaps I’m a free thinker... perhaps I don’t know what a liberal is... or maybe I am allowed to reach across the aisle a few times. In this case... it is probably all three...
Let me first share a quote from my High School History teacher who passed away last year.
"It was the Chinese who invented gunpowder- but the Europeans, God bless ’em, they figured out they could use it to kill people."
-S. T. Davies
yeah his initials are STD...so what... what a great man... moving on...
so why is gun control pointless? Obviosuly it doesn’t prevent bad people who want to perform evil from performing such acts. Don’t get me wrong... I said "evil" but not in a religious way... don’t want to confuse you... ummm... wonder[ful] people... how you could possibly justify bringing up "the second coming of christ" in a gun control. Thats about as random as me beginning to flame home school kids because of Virginia Tech.
Back on topic... you know what is the best form of gun control? Reload time.
Seriously... it takes a couple seconds atleast to reload... TACKLE THAT KOREAN!
And which brings me to the presidential candidates.... how you would possibly ever want condi to be our president is beyond me! You have to be kidding me.... right? Please tell me you are.... if you are... she’s pretty much done according to my friends:
http://mdn.mainichi-msn.co.jp/international/news/20070426p2g00m0in008000c.html
I don’t really know who will be the better candidate but in no way will I be biased based off of established labels such as democrat or republican. It doesn’t matter. I’m out for the best for this country and I do not support people based off of affiliation rather than based on ideologies. For example: restricting freedom and intruding on freedoms is a left wing tendency. However, the Patriot Act was introduced by a Republican even though it was very liberal. But what happened? Many democrats objected to it but all the republicans supported it. But had it been vice versa... it would have been vice versa. Not just the Patriot Act... look back through time and look at the alien and sedition acts which were created by a political party closely related to that of present day republicans but they were objected by people closely related to present day democrats. I led a class discussion and debate on "US government restrcting freedom" a couple of weeks ago in my history class which i discussed these 3 things as well as several other bills passed in the last few years.
and about liberal talk show hosts... maybe... just maybe... liberals realize that no one wants to hear them. But the right wing people don’t understand that no one wants to hear them either. No matter what your stance is on any subject, someone can always make a claim that throws you off. My friend is a philosophy major and we get in debates from time to time and I randomly come up with something that totally throws him off, causing me to win the debate. However, I’m a geography major... and sometimes while discussing weather or, better yet, global warming, someone comes up with something that takes me some time to be able to refute. It’s a natural thing. But if i had a radio show... I could always pretend to get mad at the caller and cut him off... then I can avoid it.
I hope this fits the needs of those wishing for my return to the member’s lounge debates....and remember: I’m not as think as you drunk I am |

Glad to see you weigh in again physcosick. I’m totally going to ride your coattails on this one.
Every politician knows that if you want to win you have to CAPTURE THE MIDDLE. That means reps AND dems. We’re two sides of the same coin.
And if you’re too quick to label me "liberal" you might never find out how much you agree with me about any given issue. |

Nobody wants to listen to someone who doesn’t make any sense! Look what happened to Imus!

Glen Beck. Bill O’Reilly. Sean Hannity. I’d say they make a good paycheck. They’re not getting Imus’d. |

You skipped the obvious one: Limbaugh
They also happen to reach massive (literally massive) audiences. So much for no-one wanting to listen to them...
Although I don’t really like O’Reilly anymore. He used to be good, but he’s turned into a paranoid ranter.
Or maybe he always has been, and I just realize it now. |

I wrote in my response that i dont vote based off of political parties... so no... I might be quick to "label [you]" but that in no way means that I am going to be hard headed and blind to the more important issues.

Nobody wants to listen to someone who doesn’t make any sense! and yet some people listened to the State of the Union address
cause i know all right wing people make sense... since they are the key to this world... I’m gonna go visit ann coulter’s website and see what smart things she has said this time.
Also, you have to realize that left wing voters tend to be a little more ampathetic in a way. In that sense, they don’t really care. Hell, most of them don’t even vote or no what is going on half the time. Republicans however tend to watch Fox News or listen to the people who agree with them run their mouth. Where as the democrats would rather listen to... hmmm... Howard Stern.
But if the media is so highly conservative and liberals don’t get much attention and cause financial failures for bussinesses... next time you refere to the "liberal media"... I hope I’m around you irl so i can kick you. |

FM, I’ll take your challenge. Here goes:
As soon as you blew this guys head off, you could go home and hug your little girl while smearing blood and brains all over her, and tell her that you killed some other daddy who was just trying to feed HIS little girl.
It’s all in perspective. Rebuttal?
I moved this here to fit in the discussion, and what can I say? My rebuttal is, "Yep, I’d do that. No problem". Of COURSE I’d take a shower to wash off the blood before, though. But if you implied asking a question about conscience (is this spelled correctly?), I’ve got pretty close to none when it comes to people who break the law. I’ve seen and done more than enough to have my mind set. Now, there’s a legal statement here that allows you to, let’s say, steal and walk away freely (you STILL commited a crime, though, you were just not punished for it), in case you really need it to eat, although repetition may cause the judge to not relevate it anymore. However, if you need to steal so you can eat, then steal from a large store or supermaket, where they actually have food (and steal the food, not their money), and can take a small loss (it’s still not correct, but if it’s your ONLY choice before starvation...). Other than that, go do something! Cut lawn, wash cars, carry bags at a supermarket, walk some dogs, heck, escort old ladies as they walk to a store in the middle of the night or something, I won’t say "get a job" ’cause that sometimes is not THAT easy, but these "underjobs" will most likely net you a small amount of money to survival until you can find a real job (or you start making a good money out of it and MAKE it YOUR real job, like what happened to dogwalkers and such) without resorting to stealing, hurting, murdering, etc.
So bottom line, yeah, if he’s (was) carrying a gun or other dangerous weapon in a case where shooting him on the leg could be hazardous for me, I’d shoot him in the head, point-blank, from the back, no second thoughts, because that’s what he would do to me too, for a lot less. |
