Now lets this through, there are probably more then 10 times as many public schooled students as home schooled students.
That means that test scores would get watered down, you could have more smart kids then total number home schoolers. Not sure if this make sense but my point is I have noticed that home schooled kids can often be stuck up and adopt a holier then though attitude.
Keep in mind that I am home schooled
yeah, i dont like that either, but.... |

Are you all home schooled? Seriously? I thought almost everyone were public schooled.. Everyone in Norway are public schooled.. Maybe because the government makes you.. 13 years.. At least.. With public school..
Nice to meet not standard school people!

Well not all of us, but the majority of the active LOTR TCGs members are homeschooled.
homeschooling isn’t done much outside the US.
Often most governments don’t want parents teaching their kids, this homeschooling supposedly "warps" kids and makes them anti-social this they aren’t exposed to other kids (which is wrong esp. if they go to church and live in a vibrant neighborhood.).
I have often been asked "How do you get socialized? "
To which I reply when asked (or at least think) , "Well, so is the fact that I am talking to you an looking you in the eye make me anti-social? Or is it the fact that I am engaging in an intelligent conversation anti-social?
If memory serves M_H was homeschooled, he seemed to turn out allright.
And i think Adultlink (you newbies wouldn’t know him) was a pretty swell guy who is in college now.
If we have any older then 18 home schoolers could you post here? |

On topic:
For the record, I happen to know a particular homeschooler... He (and his family, yes,) are liberal, atheist, and low-end middle class. That’s obviously the exception. The reason most homeschoolers are Christian conservatives is because those are the two beleif systems which most consistently lead to a worldview supporting homeschooling. Simple as that.
Off topic:
Homeschoolers often get better test scores, etc. than public schoolers. Unfortunately, that makes many of them big-headed egotists. Some of the reasons why homeschoolers generally do better than public schoolers are: 1. They get more individual attention than one person out of a class of 20 or more. 2. They get education styles and curriculums (curriculi? curriculuses? whaterver...) which are more fitted to their personality (ie, the visual learner gets visual-based education; the audio learner gets that, hands-on learner gets lots of projects...) |
| Never kid about politicians. The more bizarre the joke, the more likely it is to come true. |

Well...having been homeschooled K-8, then in a "normal" school for 9-12, I can speak on that. No, homeschool doesn’t make you antisocial. But it does limit the nature of your socialization, IMO. My experiences non-homeschool and homeschool were very different in that regard. Non-homeschooling can expand your horizons in some ways... |

I was home-schooled right up through graduation. (College now)
Physcosick appears to be mostly right with his generalization. Virtually all
home-schoolers, including myself, are Christian and republican. Most certainly not all rich though. It actually doesn’t take that much money to home-school, and my family got by with about $100 per kid per year.
As for socialization, its the most common critique that I hear of HS, and its also the biggest piece of baloney ever. Up until last year, I knew exactly one HS kid who wasn’t well socialized. Then he took forensics, and is now a nice outgoing guy. |

Haha, thanks for the compliment bob. Hey guys, it’s been a long, long time, but now that I’m ready to come home for the summer, and the fact that T&D and Rise of Saruman has shown that D hasn’t given up, I hope to be back on here occasionally to put a post or two around.
Yes, I was homeschooled K-12, and I hate the "How are you socialized" question. If Homeschoolers are notorious for being ’stuck up’ they are also stereotyped about being social rejects, and lets face it, there are plenty more non-homeschooled anti-social people who are in school, but to reverse what someone said earlier "it get’s watered down".
And, uh, yah, I now attend Ball State University which has over 16,000 students and, uh, I’m perfectly fine, haha. So, I hope that will result in no one asking me about my social-ness. |

I would like to point out, that one reason homeschoolers get good grades, is because they mostlikely have a parent pushing them on to get a good grade. they also have self respect, dicipline, and confidence. The only reason they get good grades, is because they work for it. just as public schoolers get good grades if they work for it.
I don’t get the entire point of political standings... Isn’t it mainly who you agree with the most?
