I’ll stick up for NB with this one  (but I gave AC a 5). AC’s idea behind the article was very cool, his explanation was well done and easy to follow. It’s just Felipe set the bar for how an article should be written in terms of quality, clarity and comprehensiveness. Every article afterward was measured to that standard. AC had an idea that was crazy and revolutionary - but the article as a piece of writing wasn’t as ground-breaking.
I think NB’s action was well-thought out. He knew his vote of 4 would not have an adverse affect on AC’s chance of winning the monthly contest but would clearly show it’s rightful place as the second best article ever (driven by concept more than style). It’s not about if he gave it a 4 or a 5. It’s the effect his lone 4 would have on the overall score. He knew that effect would be small. |

In other words, NBarden was voting based on what the average vote would end up being, not what his individual vote woulld round to, right?
Makes sense. To me, anyway. |

| sperzdechly that was just... wrong, you gave NB’s article a 1 simply because he broke AC’s streak? Im a ticked at NB too, but not mad enough to give him a 1, i mean, his articles are good, they cant touch F_M’s or AC’s work, but they ae good, well written articles, that was just, mean |

I don’t feel that the point here is the fact that he put a small dent in the rating of the article, because as we have all agreed upon, it is probably not going to affect the outcome of the contest.
The issue at stake is the fact that he rated the article not at all on the content of the article, but purely based (if my reading of previous posts is correct) on the fact that he did not want the article to surpass FM’s in rating which he believed to be superior. The reason i feel that this is a poor system of rating is that it disregards fair criteria for sizing up the article for a rating. I understand the fact that he felt the article was inferior to FM’s, and I definately believe that he is entirely entitled to his opinion. However I feel if he did not want the article to be better rated than FM’s I think he should have simply refrained from voting and voiced his opinion. I think that would have been sufficient and more professional. I just don’t think it is fair to anyone who considers writing articles to show that their articles will not be rated purely on their content and each individual’s opinion of that content, but on outside factors and the competition.
That said, I am simply stating the reason I don’t like this behavior, I still am glad that Nbarden is on CC boards and that he participates, and he is fully within his power to choose his own course of action unless Cobra intervenes. This is just my view on the matter. |

Exactly. Thanks for phrasing it.
Sorry to make everyone mad, but here’s the reasons. AC’s article was good, and probably deserving of a 5. There were several points of improvement he could have made, such as improving his  deck, and a little more strategy. But it was still a very good article. I think that people were emphasizing to much on the combo, which is only half of what an article should be rated on. It also needs to be voted based on writing skills. And sorry, AC, you can’t compare to F_M’s writing abilities. Thus, if F_M’s article was a 5.0, then AC’s should be a 4.8-4.9. By me giving it a 4, that’s how it came out. (Actually, it was above that, I think it was 4.95).
Sorry to make so many people mad, its a 5-level article, but not worth a perfect 5 like F_M’s. So I stand by my original decision.
H13, sorry you want to ban me for giving someone a 4. Its not like I gave him a 1.
