You need a stealth unit. One you can send undetected to find out stuff.

Ok, I put alot of thought into the primary plot of this campaign.
The six warriors are sent on a quest from their king. Their homeland is threatened by a powerful enemy, and the king wants them to seek and assasinate the evil lord that threatens their land.

Allright, cool.

Quote:
They start off on a road at the edge of the map...

....A long way from home.

Your homeland of Mortalitas has been threatened by a powerful dark lord. Your king has tasked you and your party on a quest to seek and destroy this evil master.

Along the side of the road not far from the start is a woman and a house...

Warriors from the land of Mortalitas.
You must be here on account of the growing evil that is apon us.
It is spreading swiftly far and wide.

Follow the river and it will bring you to the Fortress Trepidus.

Needs more action here. Some sort of raid, perhaps. Or fending off evil creatures.
Quote:
Along the way the attacks start from the forests. At Fortress Trepidus the party meets a man, a citizen perhaps.

Travellers,
i see you have been attacked. For weeks now this land has been plagued with this evil.
The power of the dark lord grows with each land he conquers.

Rumor has it, the land of Mortalitas was completely overrun.

Okay, there’s the attacks. That’s fine.

Quote:
The party continues on it’s quest and until it comes to a town.
(here there will be a reason to go off and find something or open something, and they will have to walk back through the town to continue.)
Walking back into the town, they see that is has been destroyed.
Houses will be burning, nobody will be left alive (maybe 1 person to tell a story), and a wall will be destroyed leading into a dark marsh.

Okay, I gotcha. So you need to flesh out this part?

They could spy some sort of motion, or could receive a warning of sorts, one that would make them run back to the town. Or an attack could drive them back to the town for cover.
Quote:
They will walk through the marsh, a dead forest, and through another completely destroyed town, being attacked now and then along the way.

A long walk through mountains and canyons will bring them up into the back of a large fortress on a hill. Here the people will be restless and bracing for an attack. Looking over the walls, there will be a huge army marching in with giant trolls and catapults.

Nice, nice. Needs to be explained more...
Quote:
After using the upgrades and majic they have developed throught the first half of the scenario, they will destroy the army and continue on into dark caves. In the caves will be caverns, tombs, and cliffs with lava below. Of course there will be many villains, trolls, and uber strong bosses.

Yeeowch! Fun stuff.

Do you have any ideas? This is most of what I have so far for a plot.
A few ideas like a diplomat handing armor and weapons to them or the bowman meeting up with his brother during the scen were scratched because I completely changed my plot to a more dramatic and intense theme. I could still incorporate them somewhere, but I am still thinking about when, where, and how.

Yeah, I do think you need to have backstory of some sort. The Council subplot I mentioned before could be tweaked a bit.

Quote:
At the end, I want this scen to HAVE THEIR F’ING ATTENTION!

Throw a major plot twist into there, like one of the characters who was spying on them all along, perhaps. Or reveal that one of the characters is someone important, after all...or, how about that they’re related to the super-villain? Epic showdown?

Names...
For the homeland, you could have several different types of names.
Aldon-for a Human-sounding name.
Siraste-for an Elvish-sounding name.
Drundug-for a Dwarvish-sounding name.
Ai-Alek-for...a name that’s really out there. I don’t advocate this one.

For the fortress, how about...

There is a way to make the player’s unit go invisible when not attacking.
I thought about using this, but I wanted it to be earned during the scenario. Problem is, it is a civ trait, that means they must start out with it or I can give them the civ points to buy it and hope they do not buy something else from the list of options. Maybe there is a way to make it so only that specific option is affordable.

It would go to the Dwarven member. I am seriously considering giving it to him from the beginning because he is the one member that needs something.

As far as the part with the returning to the town goes, I need a reason for them to go out to accomplish a MANDATORY mission and come back into the town. The plotted areas that I told you about are where all trails will eventually meet and come to a point. I want the marsh to be a mandatory option on all trails sometime in the scenario, because it just sets the setting for everything that comes after the town is destroyed. The marsh is badazz. It looks just like the marsh on LOTR with skeletons, but it will also have an undead army much like on LOTR invisible until they attack. There will be torches throughout the marsh that cannot be reached by sword, but the bowman can light with flame arrows. This will bring up a large area of visibility including the undead men.

has nothing to do with Lord of the Rings or dwarves.

The Quest
A 6 player adventure game

These 6 men will be the main characters of this new adventure/fighting game.
As they kill enemy units, they will get gold.
Gold can be used in the game to buy upgrades to attack/range/hitpoints.
The game will include many dangerous encounters and many alternate routes to choose from, each with its’ own pros/cons.

Our first member of this fellowship is a character like that of Gandalf.
He is a wizard with the power to turn any enemy unit into his ally.
He cannot fight himself, but he converts weak enemies into his force.
He also has the power to heal any member of the fellowship.

Name: Varenhtre Plot: Varenhrte, a mysterious spellcaster in employ by
the elven king, was commanded by the elven lords to take a small band to
retake a mysteriously leveled elven village. On arrival, the group found the
village destroyed and a burned debris on the ground. The group immediately
reported these sinister findings to the elven king… …Word comes of a powerful
force gathering strength. An undead necromancer, gathering wraiths, skeletons,
goblins, trolls, ogres and sorcerers to himself has declared war on all free folk of
Ormalia.

Our second member of the fellowship is like that of Boromir.
He is a strong unit with the best melee attack and hit points.
He has a battlecry that demoralizes the enemy in battle.
He later gets his breast plated armor during the scenario.

Name: Tath Plot: Tath was born in Ekbanii as a son of a minor
noblemen. Tath joined the city garrison at the age of 21 and had soon
distinguished himself in suppressing the Vorin rebellion and was thus
promoted to the rank of lieutenant. But the outbreak of the Taran wars
showed Tath’s strategical genius and true mettle as a warrior, he rallied
his soldiers to him at the height of the battle and took charge in the place
of the dead commander. The king of Ekbanii, King Rilan personally
knighted Tath and advanced him to commander. Now the new commander
has journeyed to Iliara, land of the elves to join up with the wizard Varenhrte

The third member of the fellowship is like that of Sauramon.
He is a wizard with the power to range attack with his staff.

He has some melee combat, but his best weapons are from a distance.
He starts off with a dagger and later gets his staff during the scenario.

Name: Mynentere Plot: Mynentere was a mage who received much training
in black magic. Mynentere became very powerful, until one day the elven
discovered a secret cave where sorcerers had been trained in the black arts.
Mynentere became an outlaw and lived in hiding for 30 years until the king
offered amnesty to Mynentere if he swore fealty to the elven king.

The fourth member of the fellowship is like that of a Rohirrim Guard.
He is a talented member of the fellowship with strong attack melee.
He has the power to freeze enemy units from a short distance.
He starts out of foot but may mount on his horse later in the game.

Name: Gaeren Plot: Gaeren was a half-elf born to a poor family.
Gaeren joined the army at a young age and by chance met a young and distinguished commander named Tath. That encounter, grew into a friendship that changed young Gaeren’s life. Thanks to his friendship with Tath he was trained as a knight and after completing his training, joined Tath on a seemingly simple mission; discover the
fate of the village.

The fifth member of the fellowship is like that of Legolas.
He is a highly skilled bowman with long range and high attack.
He has the power of flaming arrows, lighting the torches in caves/marshes.
He later meets up with his brother during the scene and they fight alongside.

Name: Vlian Plot: Vlian was an elven ranger who grew up during the goblin
wars. He was known for his skill as a ranger and tracker and was much sought
after as a bounty hunter. Vlian had a brother named Rylaein who sometimes
helped him in tracking down more illusive prey. Vlian was hired to join the
group by Mynentere and soon discovered that the job paid off.

The last member of the fellowship is like that of Gimli.
He has very powerful armor with high hitpoints for good melee combat.
The power to temporarily increase his melee attack, taking away some hp.
He later gets upgraded armor with almost invincible hitpoints.

Name: Kazuul Plot: Kazuul was a dwarf warrior who fought in the goblin
wars. He had a strong hate for elves; his family had been locked in a blood feud
for over 200 years. So when Varenhrte asked him to join him he grumbled long
and loud before finally joining, however he still was hostile towards elves until
a certain one by the name of Gaeren saved his life.

Name: Pronunciation:

Varenhrte vare-hn-teer
Tath tath
Mynentere mi-en-teer
Gaeren gare-hn
Vlian va-li-an
Kazuul ka-zool

Hope you like it! CheersCheers -GT

I will take all the names that I like best for each character, and have a vote. Each character will have my final unit pic with a few of the best names I’ve seen along with a very brief description of the character.

Vote will be held in a week or so. Please supply more ideas if you have any.
