| a .45 would not be underpowered. .45’s are made for knock-down power. they aren’t fast, but they can pick you up and set you on your butt if you get shot by one. |

Mistake. Big. A rifle could easily kill a bear if it is powerful enough, but not a shotgun.
I have a bear story.
We live in the middle of our Town, a very big City. There was recently a wildfire raging through a nearby forest, I would say was about 100 miles away. This fire obviously sent the animals away looking for a place to live, and, well....Food.
We were shocked to hear that a couple blocks away we had some black bears rummaging through trash cans. They eventually went away. |

dude, i have a shotgun. of course a rifle can kill a bear when it’s powerful enough. and shotguns can kill them as well. there have been many gigantic grizzlys taken down by shotguns. a shotgun with buckshot or a slug would be able to kill a bear.
i55 is right though, a .45 would be better than a shotgun (easier to carry, and holds more rounds), but i know more shotgun owners than .45 owners. so i said shotgun. |

| yeah, actually, i’m going to buy a .45 as soon as i can. they are very good guns. a 7mm would be nice too. (and an m-16). and while i’m dreaming, i’d like a pony... |

| Bring an AR-15 or a M16A4. On second thought, don’t bring the AR-15, it’ll just bore a hole through the bear and whatever else is behind it. Depleted Uranium shells on a M16A4 Anti-Tank Rifle would blast a hole through the bear and rip his guts out so fast they would create their own exit holes. That would stop it. |
