Nope. And I don’t consider any of them to be ’punk’, either.
I’m sorry (and I’m *not* trying to push on your opinion but I tend to get fired up with music discussions), but ’punk pplz’ for the most part do not wear eyeshadow. People who go to Hot Topic in order to fit in with the MTV world wear eyeshadow.
Also, the real punk music isn’t something you’ll see a lot (or ever) on TV. Bands like Green Day or Blink 182 are labeled punk because:
• Punk music tends to be built with simpler chord progressions; since Green Day and Blink 182 are never complicated music, people assume they’re punk;
• Society does not know what punk music really is. Punk music began as an underground rebellion *against* the mainstream world, so by default anything embraced by the mainstream world can not be punk;
• On a similar note, punk music is *about* something. Punk music tries to speak out on political and international issues, not ’All the Small Things’ and ’Brain Stew’ (both songs have nothing to do with anything punk).
Check out bands like The Clash, Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, and - especially - Bad Religion. Listen to them and you will know what punk music is. And I can guarantee that you won’t like them either, because they sound nothing like the bands you listed earlier. |

the clash is indeed punk-their song ’i fought the law’ was the firt punk song ever. green day songs do talk about things, not all but some do. oh yeh and hot topic is an awsome store! you can find crazy band sshirts and just plain awsome stuff. i <3 it! dont ask
