Revenge shouldn’t be the motive. Don’t pay evil with evil, because that way evil allways wins. In Holland we say, better to prevent than to cure. Well I guess we’ll never come to agreement......

but if an army is in the right, it will kill to protect. as in the case of WWII, the brittish, americans, and other allies were attempting to protect the world from the Axis armies.

i found this interesting. the motto for the state of massachusetts is thus: Ense Petit Placidam Sub Libertate Quietem. Which i can’t read. but the translation is: By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty.

new hampshires motto is: Live free or die.

that’s what america is founded on, principles like those. because liberty is more important than security.

what does it profit to have few murders, if you don’t have freedom?

So are you saying that countries without guns aren’t free? That’s what the NRA propaganda wants you to believe (and it has achieved that), that guns are equal to freedom. It just isn’t true.

And it profits greatly to have fewer murders, especially when one of those potential murders is a member of your family.

We see in america the leaders getting corrupt, the people getting corrupt. The only way to keep the government in check is to have weapons to counter.

i did NOT say that guns were equal to freedom. however, guns protect from oppression. governments have become corrupt throughout all history. rome, russia, the list goes on and on and on. And i for one do not think america is immune to a desease that has pleagued almost every civilization in the past. america will fall. and when she does, guns will protect her people. as long as her people have guns.

that family member could die and be taken away at any moment. every person is indestructible until it is their time. and once it is their time, there is nothing anyone can do about it. having fewer murders won’t change that.

life is not safe. living is a risk you take every moment you live. without Christ, there is no real security. period.

I’m sorry, but I beg to differ. Do you really think that the government is afraid of the guns of the people? Take a look at their arsenal!

The American government has stepped out of line many times, and the people have done absolutely nothing about it. The truth of the matter is, Americans are too comfortable to take up arms. As long as you’ve got your car and your big screen tv, why would you want to become a revolutionary?

The French don’t have guns, but they rebel against their government all of the time (and the Brits complain about it all of the time, Laughing ). When the French people get pissed off, they sit down. They shut down the country’s economy. It’s not a glorifiable thing to do, but it works. Believe me, when the money stops rolling in, the government listens. I’m not saying that the French are perfect, just saying that they know how to have a revolution. Wink

Think about it, if the American public suddenly decided to rebel against the government with their guns, what would happen? Destruction and anarchy, that’s what.

It makes me think about that episode of the Simpsons, where Homer went nuts about owning a gun. While waving it around, he said, "Without guns, the king of England could just walk in here and start pushing you around." Laughing I laughed so hard, because there are actually Americans who think that way.

the important thing isn’t the winning. the important thing is fighting for what is right.

i don’t think that revolution is ideal. revolution now and then can be healthy, but it is not good to stay in a state of revolution.

i don’t believe it is right to go waving my gun at the supreme court when i think they’ve made an uncostitutional decision, but i do believe it is right to fight when the government starts to take our rights away. when we don’t have the freedom of speech etc.

i am not by any means saying that guns are the only solution. this thread is about guns, it has been the focus, but i have never disregarded the legal usual ways of reform. going through the government to change the government. but once our rights start to be stripped from us, you better believe that i’ll be fighting for them. because i love america as the founding fathers laid it down for us. unfortunately the american government is a machine that must be grappled by every new generation, and they must make it go. it doesn’t move by itself. and so we have deviated from what we once were.

and now we HAVE become too comfortable. we sit around watching out plazma TV’s and are so afraid of being disrupted that we don’t try to change the way things are. we’re too comfortable to get up off our butts and help someone in need because it will make us uncomfortable. and that’s what we’ve become. a selfish nation full of selfish people.

but while we breath, there’s hope.

Wow Shocked macheteman, you’ve said it so well. I agree with much of what you’ve said. On the gun issue, I’ll have to agree to disagree with you (as I still don’t think that guns accomplish much in today’s society). But you have earned my respect (for what it’s worth Laughing ) with your well thought out post.

Applause Applause Applause Applause Applause Applause Bravo, good job! Applause Applause Applause Applause Applause

I would like to second mm’s motion. We in America have become comfort able, and guns don’t solve everything.

I will fight for the America I have pledged allegiance to. That is a nation founded under and based on God, where the people are free to live as they choose. Talking is the way to go until the government won’t listen, then drastic measures must be taken.

Thanks mm for saying it the way i wanted to.

I hope I never came across as rude.
thanks,
ingold
