Well, some assassin I am. I write this, my epilogue if you will from my jail cell after my pre-trial hearing into the murder of AnxiousChieftain. Based on the information my lawyer tells me, I’ll probably be put away for a very long time, if I am not sentenced to execution. It seems so long ago now that I was care free and focused on my next target trying to take down the membership of the CobraCards message boards one by one. Perhaps I’ll be able to get out if my attorney has a better knowledge of the law than I have of how to assassinate people. Maybe I should have been more careful in leaving my calling card places. Perhaps I should have been a little more discrete and not left clues to my next victims. Being alone gives a person lots of time to reflect on the should haves and could haves. Perhaps if I ever get out of here, I’ll be a better assassin than I was before and a bit more sneaky to boot.
Enough moaning about my current predicament, I’m sure everyone is just dying to know who I am and how I was captured. First, I’ll give you the details of the capture. After I mailed my note to the police from Harrisburg, I started winding my way towards the heartland of America, Ames, Iowa the hometown of my next victim. Driving was a bit difficult since my right hand was swollen to approximately twice normal size from the paintball wound I had sustained during my last encounter with the police. As this wound made it difficult to drive, I realized that I would need to come up with a different method of execution than I was used to, something that didn’t require a lot of physical strength and manual dexterity. A thought coursed through my brain as I drove westward on I-76. Unless my victim was expecting me, it would be an easy thing to just knock on his door, taser him, knock him out and then turn on the gas to the stove and set up a timer to cause a spark that would blow his house to smithereens and him along with it. With that plan in mind, I drove down the freeway and started to look for items to help me in my quest. Generally a large city has an organized criminal element that has connections to illicit technologies that civilians aren’t supposed to have and since Chicago was pretty much on my route, I thought I’d make a short detour.
At this point in time, I was blissfully ignorant that one of the cops had taken the initiative to put together the clues to my identity, knew who I was and had put out an APB for my capture. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the foresight to get rid of my car and rely on rentals under any of my many assumed names for my transportation around the country. Texas plates have a tendency to stick out in South Bend, Indiana so it wasn’t too hard for the police run a plate check against the national database and to turn up that the owner of the vehicle was wanted on suspicion of murder. I saw the bubble lights in my rear-view mirror and I pulled over hoping to get on with my trip quickly. When asked, I obediently handed the officer my insurance information and driver’s license and was very shortly thereafter surrounded by multiple police vehicles. I can only assume they called for backup as soon as they ran my plates and then waited until they felt they had enough force to take on an “armed and dangerous” suspect. After a quick handcuffing at gunpoint and a short ride in the back of a cruiser, I found myself in a jail cell, booked and fingerprinted with my car impounded. I knew that without too much work, the police would find my bow and remaining arrows in the trunk linking me to the murder of AnxiousChieftain. Macheteman’s tireless work had led to the capture of Merrick_Hale, the latest in a long line of CobraCards assassins.
Macheteman was heralded as a hero in the press and was given a pay raise. I found out later my clue to the next victims had been partially interpreted. The Lord of the Rings cards I referred to, 11S221 and 11R226, had pointed to SickOfPalantirs and Legoles3333, the first and fifth cops to sign up onto my case. The police had figured out that SOP was one of my targets and placed him under protection. This was probably wise as it would be hard for me to get to Albania to get to Legoles3333. In any case, my cunning plan to blow up SOP and his house was doomed to failure and probably would have led to my capture.
My contacts in the press claimed that they were just printing the news and had no clue that they were being manipulated by a criminal mastermind. Several days after my capture though, they ran a story with the headline:
No Wins, Saints Appeased
detailing how the Falcons were held to a completely winless season which made the rivalry between them and the New Orleans Saints disappear.
After seeing that headline, somewhere in the world, some psychological programming kicked in and a new day dawned for the ASSASSIN, Incognito. |
Incognito. Professional Assassin.
You're next. |

I was right! I though it was MH, but didn’t want to risk my last mark...
How did you know where I live? and where is round one?
I want to be a cop too.
I thought the clue meant 5 in number of posts. not fifth cop. |

It helps when you post the information here on CobraCards . I have other methods that are my little secret for now that helped me narrow the search parameters on CobraCards. I wanted to make the game fairly realistic (including calculating drive times between my victims homes) so let’s just say research was necessary.
Round 1 was deleted by an admin before we decided to archive the rounds and split them off into a separate thread. It is sad as round one was interesting.
Well, if you look at it, the clue I gave said badge numbers, so that had to mean cops. In my thinking, only current cops should be considered cops for the round, so that is what I was basing the clue on. |
