Shieldmaiden went to England. She checked into a hotel in Brighton. She had a speech to write, so she stayed up late. By about 2.40am the speech was finished. She began to type it up.
At 2.50am Frank_The_Hippo asked Shieldmaiden to look over some documents. She gave him her statements and he began to put away the papers. At 2.54am a loud thud shook the room. There were a few seconds’ silence and then there was a second slightly different noise. This was created by falling masonry. Hippo knew immediately that it was a bomb - perhaps two bombs, a large followed by a smaller device - but at this stage they did not know that the explosion had taken place inside the hotel. They thought that there had been a car bomb detonated outside. Glass from the windows of the sitting room was strewn across the carpet. The adjoining bathroom was more severely damaged. The assassin who had thought to kill Shieldmaiden had placed the bomb in the wrong place.
Apart from the broken glass and a ringing fire alarm, set off by the explosion, there was a deceptive normality. The lights remained on. NappyKorn looked into the room, saw that everyone there was all right and went back out. Shieldmaiden made sure that her speech was safely tucked away in her briefcase.
By now more and more people were appearing in the room. At this stage no one had any clear idea about the extent of the damage, let alone injuries. The detectives began checking out the immediate security. They feared a second device, carefully timed to catch and kill those fleeing from the first explosion. It was also necessary for them to find a way out of the hotel which was both unblocked and safe.
At 3.10am, the groups began to leave. It turned out that the first route suggested was impassable and they were turned back by a fireman. So they went back and waited in the hotel office. Later they were told that it was safe to leave and they went down by the main staircase. It was now that they first saw from the rubble in the entrance and foyer something of the seriousness of the blast. In order to escape the hotel, the group clambered over discarded belongings and broken furniture towards the back entrance of the hotel. Shieldmaiden was escorted to safety by Frank_The_Hippo.

Suicide note from NappyKorn
Now that I am the last cop I have not much left to do, so this will be my last goodbyes. Like I had said recently, I do infact know who the real Incognito is.
The Night of Lem0n’s death, the same night of my close call, I was rushed to the hospital where Incognito approached me (of course I didn’t know this at the time) I looked straight into the face of this individual an asked "did you take the life of my partner?". This person snickered at me and silently whispered in my ear that indeed they did and was here to simple see if I would survive or not.
A week or so later after being released from the hospital I checked the messages on my Cellphone and to my surprise Incognito had left one for me. It told me that they had murdered my housekeeper and kidnapped my children and if I ever wanted to see them alive again I would never reveal their true Identity. That was not all, I was told to help insure that the remaining officers assigned to the case would fail. In return for my help Incognito would make sure my children were returned safely to Mrs. Korn.
I just recieved the phone call about an hour ago that my children had been returned safely and upon a brief call to Mrs. Korn I verified this. After sitting here and thinking about my actions I have come to the conclusion that even though my children are safe now, I helped a killer take the lives of several innocent people and ruin the careers of many others. This is a burden I cannot bare. Please forgive me for my actions. I know I should have tried a different approach towards getting my family back, but in the heat of the moment I decided to just agree with the terms I was given. I’m no better than this killer and for this I must pay and pay I shall by my own hands. I regret to say that I must take the Identification of this killer to my grave.
