It was a rainy day. Gate Troll made his way to the bus stop to go to school. As he neared the bus stop, he felt a stabbing pain in his right thigh. He turned to see a person facing away from him stoop and pick up an umbrella, then depart hurriedly in a car. In pain, Gate Troll boarded the bus for school. He told friends what had happened. He noticed a spot of blood on his jeans and showed a friend a pimple like red swelling on his thigh. When he returned home he became very sick, with a high fever.
The next day Gate Troll was admitted to the hospital. Examination of his right thigh showed a tiny puncture wound with a circular area of inflammation. A diagnosis of septicaemia was made, due to his very high leukocyte count. Gate Troll suffered hallucinations and seizures which slowly worsened over the coming days. Gate Troll died an agonizing death, vomiting blood as his organs hemorrhaged, on the third day after the injury was inflicted.
During the post-mortem a single metallic sphere the size of a pinhead was excised from the wound. It had two holes bored through it for toxin retention.
The government chemical defence establishment, hypothesised that ricin could be the only possible toxin used, which has no antidote. |
