Yeah, Odysseus would be my second choice.
Achilles - 7
Ajax - 16 (-1)
Beowulf - 23 (+1)
King Leonidas - 28
Odysseus - 9
Saint George - 2
As for Beowulf, well, he did single-handedly hold an army of Swedes out of Geatland, save Denmark three times (Grendel, G’s mummy, and a horde of invaders), exterminate a hoard of sea-monsters that had been destroying ships (during the swimming match), kill a massive dragon (alright, he had a little help with that one, but he was like 70 back when the life expectancy was, what, 45?)...
I will admit, however, that Leonidas’ movie was probably better than Beowulf’s. Didn’t see either, but.... |

King Leonidas - 30 (+1)
Odysseus - 9
Saint George - 2
Leonidas #1, Beowulf #2, I use Ajax to scrub my tub and mop my floors . Leonidas and crew defeated the Persian Empire. Beowulf Defeated his fair share of baddies. Ajax gets rid a grime. Who do you trust when your country is in peril? Now if my floor needed a nice shine I would vote Ajax, but nope we need a real hero |

What AD said. And technically, NK, the 300 Spartans didn’t "defeat the Persian Empire". What they did was kill a bunch of Persians, delaying the army enough for the rest of the Greeks to prepare their defenses and repulse the Persian attack. |
