My time has come.
I stood up from the chair at which I sat and walked to my gun cabinet. Opening the glass door, I chose a small .38-caliber handgun. Loud enough to scare any innocent bystanders anyway, and powerful enough to get the job done.
I closed the cabinet and walked out the door to my car. Turning the key in the ignition, I eased the Cadillac out onto the highway. A little over two hours later, I arrived at my destination. Easing my car to the side of the road, I dimmed the headlights and slowed to a stop.
No lights illuminated the small house that sat behind the faded white picket fence, and I carefully opened the door of the car. Approaching the house silently, I pulled a lock pick from my pocket. After a few minutes of working on the lock, I turned the knob and the door eased open.
I froze instantly. My victim-to-be was watching NCIS, a popular Tuesday night show. He was sitting on his sofa, his back toward me. The show switched to a commercial, the volume rising suddenly. I seized the opportunity and leaped forward. Anonymous Prodigy heard the noise and turned-
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
He slumped to the floor, three bullet holes in his chest beginning to ooze blood. I pulled a letter from my pocket and dropped it on his lifeless body. I spotted his cell phone on the table and grabbed it. I flipped it open and punched 9-1-1.
“I’m afraid there’s been an accident. Come quickly.”
When paramedics arrived on the scene, they found Anonymous Prodigy’s dead body. When the cops arrived minutes later, they examined the letter that his killer had left.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What a shame that there are only three of you so far, and one of you has taken an oath of silence as to my identity. AgentDrake, I am disappointed. With your reputation as the force’s best officer, I would have expected you to decipher my clues.
Anonymous Prodigy was the fourth member of Cobra Cards to become a moderator: those before him were AnxiousChieftain, La Sin Grail, and syndrome. After Anonymous Prodigy become a moderator, three more followed: Merrick_Hale, bibfortuna25, and Felipe Musco, making seven moderators in all, and making Anonymous Prodigy the fourth of the seven.
My next victim will breathe their last on Friday.
They spoke first:
They mourned over A;
They pleaded and laughed.

What the...?
Didn’t see that coming.
I didn’t even know there were seven mods.
Okay, as for this clue, I have no idea what any of it means, but the line "They mourned over A" could refer to SM’s comment about Anautikus, which is also in Lem0n’s sig. Of course, I don’t know whether the other two lines are relevant to either of those, but.... |

There has been a change of plans. THREE people will meet their doom on Thursday.
I have already revealed the clue for my first victim. These are the clues for the other two.
The damned hare has been seen again
You’d better tell the second Náin.
The third generation down shall hear
Of the tale; you’ll find him, I fear.
Find the hare, he’s looking for the boarder.
Save the hare’s life; a mighty tall order.
Go ask the fellow on the ship named Ring.
His number is plain: 4924. He’ll sing. |

Well, I dunno if it means anything, but "the second Nain" could be Dain. In the Old Norse "Catalogue of the Dwarves" where Tolkien got most of his Dwarf names from, one pair of lines goes:
Nar and Nain,
Nipin, Dain
It goes on for a long time listing Bifur, Bomber, Gandalf, Durin, Dwalin, etc.
Or the hare could be bunnydaman.
No idea at all on the Ring bit. |

Still only three cops and THREE victims coming? Egads. A monster such as this MUST be stopped.
*dusts off badge from last round*
Count me in. I think protecting bunny and myself are good ideas, but what about that ’A’ clue? And 4924? That doesn’t match anything obvious like a total post count or join date, so what’s it mean?
I’ll protect Anautikus based on Drake’s tip, but I may change that if I can find a better clue hidden in...well, the clues.
EDIT: Searching for clues regarding the 4924, I found this:

Probably no relation, but.... Anyone here from Spain or Monaco? |
