Sicky, that is a subject that has been debated for a long time. Along with that how long a "Day" really was in creation, in fact the Pharassises or whatever spent long hours trying to contemplate that. In hte Bible it say somewhere, "Your thoughts are not my(God’s) thoughts and your designs are not my designs" or something very close to that.
So on top of every discussion, at least for me that is, "Only God really knows." |

I would like to point out that many of you are sauing that the bible doesn’t have that much historical weight. Have any of you heard of the ancient Historien Pliny the Younger? One of his works called History has a total of 7 surviving copies. BUT the earliest of these was copied 750 years after his death.
In contrast their are over 24,000 ancient copies the of which the earliest copies were written 25 years after the orginals.
And we can compare those 24,000 and find that there are very few transcription errors between them.
Many acceptedhistorical documents have numbers close to the first ones I qouted.
So why do we believe those and doubt the New Testament?
I will say that this doesn’t prove much but just think about it for a moment. |

Well, thats irrelevant, the bible is full of fantastic stories and miracles that can’t possibly be true in the reality that we live in. Or is it?
You see, it was put this way to me, which is as simple as it gets in reality. This is how atheism does not work, by merely the reality that there is one of two things that could have happened in history for the universe to be as it is today:
1. The Universe was created from nothing.
2. The Universe has always been.
Well, one of the many scientific "laws" that scientists have is that you cannot create somthing out of nothing. It cannot happen, so #1 is out.
And, another "law" states that as time moves on, energy decreases. Well, this would mean that all energy would cease to exists an infinite number of years ago if the universe has always been. So #2 dont work either.
So, by that mere calculation, you can only accept that somthing supernatural happened to make the universe the way it is now.

| This is kind of straying off-topic...what does Creation have to do with Dan Brown, anyway? Well, besides the fact that he was created... |

~tOO If you read my post above, you would know that I said that the earth has a self-replenishing mechanism known as climate change and ice age. It’s a natural phenomenai/process that revitalizes the earth, thus the "energy" may decrease, but at some point, it is reset, and earth begins again from practically scrath. It’s just a big cycle. Of course the whole idea of there never being an end is just an educated opinion on my part but the idea of there never being a beginning is just a thought... has no more relevance than someone claiming that some "god" created it with the wave of his fingers.
PS: I think it’s safe for us all to say that tOO and I, physcosick, have come together to form the best explanation ever for the genesis and recreation of our planet.... although it was mostly me. Now that we have reached such conclusion... it’s time to dance |

essentially what they say they are.
lee strobel was a famous journalist then his wife became a christian and he decided to check out the facts for himself. the facts he found are in those books and another one(the case for faith) I only read the student edition(we went over it in are sunday school) but it was very good and thought provocative.
I really think they would enrich your studies they are very well written. |

You know, it occurs to me that the only reason many of you believe the Bible is true is because you were brought up to believe that.
If you never went to church and your parents never taught you anything about religion, you would think the Bible is just another work of fiction.
Something to think about. |
