The Bible can only have one version that is true, so it just makes a messy debate because different churches seem to have different bibles. For example, I’m Catholic and Protestants do not have certain books and translations that Catholics use, because they do not believe some of the things in those books. Therefore, in my own opinion, saying that your Faith follows only the Bible (also known as ’Sola Scriptura’) means almost nothing. I think that the most practical test of religion is authority, teaching, and historical proof.

I would just like to say from a Protestant view that the "extra" books that the Catholics have would probably fit in just fine with my beliefs. I have read some of them and find that they are not much different than most of the old testament. I personally think that the Bible has quite of a bit of historical facts that back it up, but you are right in saying that there are other things that matter also.
