Based on experience thus far and user feedback, I’d like to make a change to the way decks are entered into the archives.

From this point on, titles should always describe the decktype -- for example, "Mono-Red Burn," "Elven Archery," and so on. Sometimes elaboration will be necessary, as in "Dwarves with Smeagol support" or "Rapid Reload + Demoralized Combo." But keep titles simple whenever possible. The goal here is to make the general decktypes immediately recognizable, like in the the old Deck Clinic archive threads.

*** For LOTR TCG decks, use one of these formats as appropriate:
Noble Leaders / Lurker Swarm
Noble Leaders (Free Peoples only)
Lurker Swarm (Shadow only)

As for descriptions, don’t worry about them at all -- these will be left up to the authors, who will get to describe their decks in their own words. Cool The code for this is not in place yet, but it probably be dealt with in the same way as article descriptions.

So, for those of you who are helping archive decks, just remember...
Title = Decktype.
Description = blank.

Thanks!

Yeah... I’m making this change because I think it will create better deck archives in general, but to be honest it was the annoyance of writing descriptions that got me thinking in this direction... Laughing

It still says "please enter a description."

Fixed.

Right now I’m updating the titles already entered, and while I’m thinking about it, here’s one more random tip for writing titles: simple is good, but use more than one word. Wink "Dwarves" is a bit non-descript, but "Dwarves with Smeagol," "Dwarven Card-drawing," "Dwarven Possessions" etc. are perfect for archiving purposes.

Also, I’m noticing some occasionally overzealous ticking of color/culture boxes. A Frodo Ring-bearer, for example, doesn’t make a Shire deck. Rolling Eyes This is sort of a gray area, but just ask yourself, "If I was looking for ideas for the [whatever] culture, would I be interested in this deck?"

I’m still noticing a lot of mistakes in the LOTR TCG deck archive, so when archiving a deck please remember:

1) "Title" = decktype, simple as that. Check existing deck archive entries for examples. If only half of a deck is given, add (Free Peoples only) or (Shadow only) to the end of the title.

2) Make sure all appropriate culture icons are selected -- any culture that’s more than a tiny splash should be included. For example, an Uruk-hai Swarm deck will probably have both Uruk-hai and Isengard cultures.

3) If there’s no actual decklist, type "DO NOT DISPLAY" into the appropriate box.

The current system is definitely easier to maintain than the previous version, since you don’t have to write descriptions. However, you still need to take a minute to skim the decklist so each piece of the archive entry is accurate. (If you don’t have time to do this, leave it for someone else. Cool)
