I would just like to make a point, because I’m getting mad.
Very few articles have been posted lately. Not to say not many new posts have been made. Quite the opposite, in fact. People are writing decklists with strategy notes attached. Some haven’t included decklists. Some barely have strategy. It’s just not working. I am sorely tempted to give them all 1’s just to make my point, but I won’t. Yet.
I just have to say that if you write an article, it shouldn’t be on a whim. It should be a work, an effort, an actual piece of writing. There are many very well-rated articles out there (and I’m not saying mine are in the top of them), Like The Gandalf Splash, the Time of the Elves is Over?!? and many others for potential article-writers to use as research for format. And Cobra has a stickied post of article-writing tips.
READ THEM.
Then research your topic, find cards, not just ones that will go in the final decklist (which you might not want to have ready-made at the start of the article-writing process), and go through each one and figure which ones will best work in your strategy, and tell us why.
Another thing, re-read your article before you post it. It takes five minutes, maybe a little more, and you can catch grammar errors you made. Please, treat this like a school essay. It needs to have a point, it needs to be written well, and it needs to use proper grammar, and have punctuation.
If you want a decent rating, make a decent effort. Thank you. |

My advice to new writers is too look at all the past articles that have won and been runner up.
Don’t just look at the Gandalf Splash or the Time of the Elves is Over, check out the other well rated articles. Remember to check and proofread your article, and when you post it check for no-links, that your desription brackets worked, and formatt it.
Don’t have three massive chunks of text. Break it up into paragraphs.
Also I have seen very few introductions. Your intro should be about why you are writing the article and how the strategy that you write about can benifit the reader.
It is better for an article to be too long than too short.
And finally if you vote on an article and give it a 3 or less explain in detail why you gave it a low vote.
Remember that the writer loses GP if you give hima 2 or 1. |

| Is that on the Lord of the Rings Article Contest? I don’t see those problems on the Magic Articles. In fact, writers (and articles) there are getting better, since they are writing about different things, other than decklists. Decklists are cool, but if all you’ve got is them, it gets boring. |

| You Lord of the Rings guys should check out some Magic Articles, like the one who won last month’s Contest (I think it’s from psychosick or s’mthing liek ti), they are cool. Also, there is one called "Instant Izzet" (pure strategy) that is nice, and one called "The Epic Battle at the Homefront", although this one could use more writing on it. |

My last Lotr Article’s format was sort of based off of something Felipe did. And my format for the Lotr Standard article might be a bit of a rip-off (if you don’t mind) of the MTG standard article.
When I see an awesome format, I use it.  |
