Go buy Empire Earth 1 Gold Edition (not to be confused with EE2)
I will try to be non-biased, but I do admire EE because it’s better. lol

AoE spans 1,000 years
EE spans 500,000 years

AoE has you running around chasing relics and building tiny castles everywhere
EE has you building one large fortress and building armies to attack the enemy

AoE has 5 formation types
EE has at least 8

AoE resorces are food, wood, gold, stone
EE rescorces are food, wood, gold, iron, stone

AoE has you building a army of little houses to keep your population up
EE gives you a population capacity at the start of the game (you choose #)

EE has a large number of online players in the lobby 24-7
AoE has nobody

AoE lets you choose your civilization from 13-17 pre-made selections
EE lets you build your own civilization selections (as many as you want)

AoE has only 1 option for upgrading units.
EE has an average of 7 options for upgrading units.

Out of the ages AoE spans, the number of units on AoE are fewer and results in a limit on the number of strategic options available
Out of the ages AoE spans, EE is literally like 5 different games. Each with more units and new strategies invented every day. Not to mention the 10 other ages not included in AoE.

Number of different type units in AoE: 67
Number of different type units in EE: 305

Personally, I’m a fan of the middle age units. Swords, Pikes, Bows.
EE has AoE beat in it’s own game if you ask me. Not just by units or strategy options alone, but by gameplay and graphics too.

IF YOU LIKE MIDDLE AGE UNITS....

Number of shock infantry in AoE: 13
Number of shock infantry in EE: 15

Number of pierce infantry in AoE: 4
Number of pierce infantry in EE: 11

Number of arrow infantry in AoE: 6
Number of arrow infantry in EE: 4

Number of mounted shock in AoE: 14
Number of mounted shock in EE: 6

Number of mounted pierce in AoE: 0
Number of mounted pierce in EE: 4

Number of mounted arrow in AoE: 2
Number of mounted arrow in EE: 3

Number of siege units in AoE: 9
Number of siege uinits in EE: 14 (wood siege for primitive age siege)

Empire Earth has literally 15 different games (ages) Each one is completely different. A strategy that would work in one age will be brutally destroyed in the next. Clans online are grouped the the ages they play best.

Prehistoric you can choose from a rock thrower or a clubman.
Later you get a mounted clubman and a slinger (throws rocks with a sling)
Soon you get swords, spears, bows.
In the Industrial age you start to see primitive blackpowder guns.
Atomic age you get a whole new world of biplanes of many sorts with the airport
Modern Age you can have the F117, B2, F15, A10, Paratrooper planes, Atomic Bombers, or aircraft carrier’s F14s in the air.
Subs, Carriers, Destroyers, Galleys, Battleships take on the seas.
Digital, Nano ages bring lasers and mechs into the scen. (5 different types of mechs)
Space age finally brings the war out in space.

Well if you "boom" (go all out on economy) you can span the 15 ages in about an hour and a half of game time. They have games where they team up and try to race to space age and attack.

Rarely does anybody "epoch up" in games. Usually they set the age and play a game without advancing.

I think AoE is made by Microsoft and I know EE is made by Sierra.
Empire Earth
That is as close as an official site you can find now days.
I think the official website was changed by sierra to welcome the new EE2.

I know some people that play EE but I’ve never played it, but...
You seemed to say that EE was better, but...
You are probably right.
the games I own are. Star wars galactic battlegrounds, Axis&Allies, Civilization 3, Celtic Kings Rage of War, and the oldest one Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun. Played any of them?

I own A&A the PC game and I think it was VERY poorly made. I would have alot to say to the designers of that game. Mostly it’s not even close to the play of the original A&A.

I’ve seen C&C and Civiliation 3 played at friend’s houses. C&C looked very cheasy, and Civilization looked pretty good.

I also own AoEII but the disk is broken and I own AoEIII which I haven’t played much.

EE1 requirments: (if you don’t have these req, invest in a computer)

Minimum Specifications:
• Windows® 98/Me/2000/XP
• Pentium® II 350MHz
• 64MB RAM
• AGP (4 MB) or PCI (8 MB) 3D video card that supports 1024 x 768, 16 bit color resolution
• 4x CD-ROM
• 450MB Hard Drive Space

Additional Specifications:
• Audio board with speakers or headphones

Optional Specifications:
• 28.8 Kbps modem for Internet play

I’ve had it working perfectly on windows ME, 98, XP.
256 MB RAM
I used to have it working on a 4 GB hard drive when it first came out.
Dial up works great on multiplayer.... no difference detected from my broadband when I had it.
My original video card from 2000 worked, but now it’s on a 64MB.
Pentium II and III have worked for me.

Where I live these games are more expensive, but it’s $30 at Walmart for both disks in one pack. "Gold Edition"

I’m sure GameStop would have it for half that.

Here it is for $20 GameStop (aww yes you will always find good ratings for EE)

The EE2 Platinum is twice that. Personally I don’t like it.

I would be interested in that game. It sounds like it has a lot more variety than AoE. I may get it for x-mas.

Why don’t you like EE 2? Is it not as fun?
Also does the scenario editor have a help section?
It stinks that AoE II doesn’t have a help for scenarios.
The main reason I like AoE is that a full dark ages to imperial age game can take less than 30 minutes if done right.
And the game is very simple and easy to learn.

Are the controls and concepts simular in EE?
thanks.

I don’t like EE2 because the game doesn’t have custom civs.
I know it has better graphics, but I hear the gameplay sucks.
The idea was to make EE "better" with graphics as it’s main goal.
I downloaded the demo, and it was a slow boring game.
(one reason might be that I play EE1 on "very fast" game speed)

The person I’m talking to on msn right now says EE2 sux don’t get it, so there you go lol.

The controls are the same. The game can be played without reading the book if you know AoE. You will still have alot to get used to.

I like to play FAST! I like to have an army of 40 infantry on crack ending the game within 4 min of the start. I am in the clan "Vampire Knights" (around 20 members). Also founder of "UANP" team. Scenario building experts.
Try playing AoE on the fastest speed against the hardest computer. That’s what it’s like playing against one of my clan members in the industrial age.
Everygame I play is on the highest speed setting.

Online play is infinately better than single player. Tell you the truth, I haven’t played one campaign because they are so boring to me. (AoEII, AoEIII, EE, EE2 alike) With online play you can join a clan of friends and develop a technique to win.

VK strategy... (rules: 4v4 Industrial no reli/siege)
The two on the end (wing) rush with infantry and send gold to the pocket
The two in the center (pocket) rush with cavalry and send iron to the wing
I’m dominate on the wing! Very Happy Very few ppl can best my infantry rush.

food/iron is for infantry and food/gold is for cavalry
you start out with enough food, iron, gold to pull this off perfectly.
cavalry are faster (duh) so they can get to the lines quicker from the middle
grenadiers (the main infantry for indy) is a good all round unit, so it holds the line long enough for the cavalry to come.

all this happens within a few SECONDS of play
we are fast! that’s why I called it a rush.

EE has a few help sections. I personally have 2 websites available for strategy and scenario building help. They are by far the best help you can find Wink for any game. One isnt done yet. I have been getting farther on it every day. It’s completely customized with html.
