| Actually, the media is not. We have about 6 major TV networks here (yep, only six) and ONE of them is HUGE.THEY distort things SO MUCH, that they were able to MAKE the people overthrow (by means of an impeachment) a President! And the people ACTUALLY believe it were THEM who did it by heart! Talk about power... |

Ok, time for some bad things (well, it had to have some, right?):
1- Crime rate at the bigger cities is REALLY high;
2- In Rio de Janeiro, there’s actually a Slum with a population ofalmost ONE MILLION people;
3- Even in the rare occasions where rich people DO go to jail, they never STAY there long enough;
4- Politicians here SUCK, they all steal a lot, and don’t work at all;
5- Public schooling here sucks, too, you can’t get a handful of GOOD public schools IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY;
6- Public Universities, which ARE the best, are starting to deteriorate due to lack of investment;
7- Sports here have no support at all, we actually have athletes running with bare feet at the northeast;
8- There are almost 20 million people who are BELOW "poor";
9- Scientific research and development here sucks badly, too, we have some GREAT minds, but they all go to other countries (mainly US, Germany, England, France and Denmark) due to lack of investment;
10- The minimum wage here is about 160 dollars a month, and THERE ARE A LOT of people who make MUCH less than that;
11- We have a great law system, but rich, powerful and famous people simply ignore it;
12- The government is privatizing every company we have, due to being corrupted;
13- We pay about U$ 7.00 for a gallon of gas, even though WE produce out OWN petrol;
14- There’s a music style called Pagode, one called Axé and one called Funk which nowadays are the most "popular", and they all suck immensely!;
15- We are obligated to serve the army, although a good number of us are dismissed due to full contingent, but some people who DO NOT want to serve eventually get pulled in;
16- Voting is mandatory here;
17- There are almost 60 million unemployed people here;
18- Our basketball team is not very good;
19- Our soccer players are bought by foreign teams and sent to Europe at the age of 14-15 nowadays, so we don’t even get to SEE them playing, due to lack of opportunity and good payment here;
20- Only 2% of the population ever get into a University.
But don’t worry, I’ll be back with more good things in a few days. |

| Mandatory voting sucks when you have 2% ONLY of the population with enough instruction to choose a governant... People end up electing the same thieves every time. |

The problem is since Brazil is not considered a 1° world country the midia think that’s a GREAT IDEA talk only about the worse of our country. An example? Almost all midia outside the US only talk about the US with one word: war. Is that all that United State means? OF COURSE NOT!!!!! Every time the something happens in Germany the midia insist in mention that Germany was the theater of a massacre. That Africa only has HIV. This is wrong. This is the most horrible thing to do with people. BUT the midia sells tragedy and that kind of thing that I hate.
This is not right. you seem to be confused... no offense to felipe but if your gonna start a thread named "Learn about Brasil" there should be some actual things we can learn about rather than 20 great things about it. It’s as biased as the media that you dissapprove of so greatly. Rather than focusing on the bad he is focusing on the good... which just leads to another type of deception which is completely different yet complimentary to each other. So if you want us to learn about Brasil, actually tell us some facts that aren’t bias...
This basically says Brasil is an amazing place and nothing is wrong with it. USA is an amazing place and I could come up with a good list of reasons why but if i wanted to teach someone about it, I certainly wouldn’t leave out any of the bad qualities. If this wasn’t the case, we should all move.... then I can complete my life long goals of owning a helicopter and living in an urbanized city near a rainforest which I admire from a far but never actually approach it.
Good words but it was not Fm that wrote that quote above your post. Am I confused? Just to stop this silly thing, Brasil is an amazing place JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER COUNTRY IN THIS PLANET. I have 1000 reasons to live AND LOVE my country that same way that you have to do with your that corvus has and so on. The difference here is the fact that I won’t tell that my country is best because your country is worst. FM just showed to you and everyone here things or facts or all the heck you wanna call about Brazil that midia hardly show. If the fact that we brazilians lives in a good country bother you physcosick, I’m really sorry for you. |

So do they force people to vote or what?
Your political systems sounds like the U.S. back in the late 1890-1920 corruption wise. |

George W. Bush did, in an international meeting...Talk about being dumb, I mean, doesn’t he have people to teach him that kind of stuff in advance?
And about the voting thing, well, if you DON’T vote, there are SEVERE legal consequences, like losing any kind of credit you could get, being prosecuted, losing political rights for a while, and on, so yeah, in a sense, they DO force us to vote. Stupid, ain’t it? |

I hope you aren’t bad mouthing Bush! He is the leader of the U.S. a hard responsibility. God tells us to pray for our leaders, so that is what he needs more than critisism. |
