Ok, I’m sick and tired of hearing stupid things, so if you want to LEARN a bit before talking, check out the facts about Brasil stated here. If you have any doubt, just ask.
1- Brasil IS NOT a big, wild jungle full of indians. The population here is evenly divided between white, black, red an yellow-skinned people;
2- Yes, the Amazon Rainforest is here, but it’s one the very, very, VERY edge of the country, most people have never even seen it, and most will die without seeing it;
3- The cities here ARE as urbanized as the other big cities all over the world. In fact, the smaller cities here are more urbanized than the smaller cities form the US, for example;
4- Brasil is the number one country on internet users;
5- Brasil is the number two country on private helicopter owners;
6- Brasil is the number four country on Ferrari owners, AHEAD of Italy itself;
7- The oficial language here is the Portuguese, not the Spanish;
8- The capital of Brasil is Brasília, NOT Buenos Aires. That’s the capital of Argentina, a country mostly brazilians deep-heartedly hate;
9- Brasil IS located in the America;
10- Newsflash! There are THREE Americas, and ALL the people living in ANY one of them are "americans", you’re "united statians";
11- The brazilian beer is the best of the world;
12- Fruits here are the best in America, and the wider variety;
13- The brazilian culinary is among the most peculiar and diverse (oh, yes, and BETTER too) of the America;
14- Brasil has descendants of colonies from almost every country of Europe;
15- Rio de Janeiro is among the most beautiful and visited cities on the planet;
16- Brazilian music has it all, any style of music can be found here;
17- Best soap operas in the world;
18- Among the countries with the greates creative minds of modern engineering;
19- Among the best biologists and doctors in the world, there are SEVERAL from Brasil;
20- One of the moxt complete Civil Rights system in the world, it’s a model in Germany and Portugal themselves.
Anyone care to ask any other question or add another fact? |

"Bad qualities"? You mean poverty? There’s no poverty in Europe? Asia? North America? The problem is since Brazil is not considered a 1° world country the midia think that’s a GREAT IDEA talk only about the worse of our country. An example? Almost all midia outside the US only talk about the US with one word: war. Is that all that United State means? OF COURSE NOT!!!!! Every time the something happens in Germany the midia insist in mention that Germany was the theater of a massacre. That Africa only has HIV. This is wrong. This is the most horrible thing to do with people. BUT the midia sells tragedy and that kind of thing that I hate.
This is not right. |

This is not right. you seem to be confused... no offense to felipe but if your gonna start a thread named "Learn about Brasil" there should be some actual things we can learn about rather than 20 great things about it. It’s as biased as the media that you dissapprove of so greatly. Rather than focusing on the bad he is focusing on the good... which just leads to another type of deception which is completely different yet complimentary to each other. So if you want us to learn about Brasil, actually tell us some facts that aren’t bias...
This basically says Brasil is an amazing place and nothing is wrong with it. USA is an amazing place and I could come up with a good list of reasons why but if i wanted to teach someone about it, I certainly wouldn’t leave out any of the bad qualities. If this wasn’t the case, we should all move.... then I can complete my life long goals of owning a helicopter and living in an urbanized city near a rainforest which I admire from a far but never actually approach it. |

Yeah, as I had very little time, I thought: "hey, let’s start with the cool things", right? i’ll update it every now and then, on a 20-good, 20-bad basis, so keep a sharp eye to The Awful Truth about Brasil. So, answering physcosick, well, yeah, I’m patriotic, more than most people ’round here, as sop did a good job to point out, btw, even in a quick post, they ARE pessimistic as hell here, you see, people are like: "oh, ok, things are bad, but they’ll be bad anyway, so why should I care? Why should I complain, or try to do something?"
And to corvus, yeah, dude, it’s true, I’ve had beer from almost anywhere famous in the world, and the best ones are still from here. However, the bock ones and malzbier ones are not THAT much better, no. |
