Cobra,
I don’t know if you’ve seen this, but lately there have been about 2 posts each day created by spam bots. The posts almost always include links to sites (which appear to be adult sties, judging by the url).
I’ve deleted all the ones I see. Should I continue doing this, or would you rather have me lock ’em?
Also, is there any way to stop the bots?

I would say delete on sight.
I would like to keep this site as user friendly as possible, and having links to sites that could have malicious content or porn is not user friendly.
Thanks, |

It’s not only annoying and user-unfriendly, it’s actually a threat to our community. We have plenty of kids who use this site only with their parent’s approval!
For now, do this -- move all spam of this type to the Moderator’s forum. That way those posts will be hidden from the general public, but I can have a look at them to check for patterns that might help me block them.

Thanks for the help, guys... I was hoping to find a pattern in the spammer’s IP addresses so I could ban them, but no luck. I’ve deleted all zero-post accounts and enabled a "visual confirmation" requirement for new accounts, which should keep bots out.
It’s still possible that some idiot with too much time on his hands to do things manually (or perhaps some genius with a very sophisticated bot ) will be able to continue spamming here. The next step would be something like requiring the first post from each account to be manually approved. As this would require active admin/mod oversight I’d prefer to avoid that step for now; but if the spam continues to be out of hand, please let me know!
