June of ’05 I was in a car wreck with a friend. I was riding shotgun, he was driving. He wasn’t paying attention, and we slammed into the back of an SUV while doing 40. My seat belt broke, I headbutt the windshield.
Strangely enough, my most painful memory is actually giving away my Pokemon cards when I was in 8th grade. That’s the worst thing I’ve ever done. |

1. Fingolfin pushing me into a dresser and me getting 6 stiches (6)
2. Getting caught in a pickle, sliding head first into a base and jambing my finger so bad that I couldn’t move my ring finger for two weeks. (
3. holding a log, then my dad brought his foot down so hard that it felt like I snapped a muscle. (9) |

My senior year in HS I was the starting goalie for my varsity soccer team. I was amazing! Not to brag... but every team i played on loved me and won because of me. There are a lot of stories about that to explain what I mean by that but thats not the point. Anyways, a little more then half way done the season I had to play this one team who was amazing. My team was no where near on par with them and we were getting destroyed. In the second half, this one guy got on a break away and i did everything patiently and correct. Waited for my moment and sprinted out at the right time. I slid down and had the ball in my hands, laying down on the ground. And the guy on the break away for no reason slid cleats first into my shin, no where near the ball. Because i didn’t have complete control over the ball it got knocked out of my hands on impact (to guys running full sprint and sliding into each other like that... kind of hard to hold on) and the ref saw everything completely and insisted it wasnt a foul, so they got a goal cause my defense gave up on the play a long time ago.
Meanwhile, I’m laying down on the ground trying to debate if it’s serious or not and if I can walk it off. I’ve had pain like that before (almost broke my ribs once but sucked it up as well as many painful back injuries) so I decided to get up and walk it off. I stood up and took one step and felt this pain shoot up mmy leg and explode in my knee. It felt like someone had just shot me in the knee. SO I yelled, fell down, holding my knee, rolling around. The medical people and my coach had to support me (but i made them practically carry me) to the sideline where I layed on the bench with an ice pack that did nothing.
SO after that condescending moment on the bench I got to ride one of those gators over to my parents car (I always wanted to ride in a gator... ) and I spent the next week or so unable to walk without a cruch. Missed my senior year prep rally (I had some plans for that) because of a doctor’s appointment. Missed my homecoming game and had to watch my team lose cause my backup couldnt do anything. But after that homecoming game, I showed up to 3 games in full uniform asking to play with 2 knee pads and 2 knee braces trying to support my knee. But my coach obviosuly wouldnt let me. One thing that pissed me off the whole time is that whenever my backup did nething everyone would cheer for him, but no one ever cheered for me (except one game... oh what a game,.. lol, good times) and I confronted some people about it and they said "well it’s expected of you to do good".
FInally, I got my coach to play me in the 2nd to last game. They subbed me in before half time. And people actually cheered. Got my first save and went out to the 18 yard line and built up all my strenght and frustration that I built up over the last 2-3 weeks and punted it all the way down to the other side of the field. Then this one freshman’s grandfather said on the sideline "see, I told you guys he punted better then that other kid". Shut that team out. Then went on to shut out the school’s rival in the final game of the season.
I wrote my college application essay on my soccer experience and my team and leadership skills...dedication... etc. It was amazing, it pretty much ensured me getting into that college, lol. |

Nice physco.
In 2004 my family and I where heading up to a 4th of july Family get together in northernmost north dakota (about 20 miles from Canada).
So we pull into my uncles farm at about 4:00 P.M. on July 3rd.
After we unload our stuff and say hi to all the relatives me uncle take me and my brother for a ride on his sweet new four wheeler.
He lets both me and my younger bro (yes SOP was driving a four wheeler) drive the 4-Wheeler around his farm for about half an hour.
Then a lot of our cousins show up so we go and play with them.
After a bit we all go outside and start lighting very illegal fireworks, stuff you can only get in a few states like north Dakota (the edge of civilization).
Soon I get bored of almost blowing myself up with explosives so me and a younger cousin start riding the 4-Wheeler, by this time I wasn’t as scared as I should have been of that 4-Wheeler, so I am starting to go pretty fast with my cousin right behind me. By the way neither of us have any helmets or protective gear.
Now on my Uncle’s farm there was as a old concrete foundation that was right in the middle of his yard. I was going really fast and approaching this slab, then right when I come up to it, the 4-Wheeler, instead of going over the slab runs into the side.
This caused the handle bars to jerk, which snapped and dislocated my right thumb which was on the throttle. SO I fall of the abruptly stopped 4-Wheeler, while my cousin, who was fine btw go figure, looks down and asks "Are you okay?"
Of course i wasn’t and I felt really queasy since my thumb was bent back at a really weird angle and turning black since the blood flow was restricted (at least that was what a doc told me). So then my dad and uncle come out since they saw me go down.
My dad who works at a hospital thought I had just dislocated my thumb so he pulled it back into position, which helped a bit since blood could now get into the affected area.
However it became obvious that I had broken my thumb so my dad drove me to the nearest ER which was 45 Miles away. (nothing is close in North Dakota).
They put a temporary cast on my thumb and the next day I went 120 miles to the nearest surgeon who then moved the thumb break back into place and put a cast on my thumb. To get my thumb position right he used a traction device which basically pulled down on my arm while pulling me thumb up. That hurt probably worse then the actual break.
So then I go back to my cousins house and have a pretty good time.
We then got back to Iowa on the 7th.
The next day we went to our hospital since the doc in ND had told us to have a doc in Iowa check on me when I got back.
So I went on the 8th expecting a normal checkup and then leaving right after.
SO the iowa doc took an x-ray.
He then told me that the break wasn’t healing well and that I would have to have surgery that very day.
I was pretty depressed at this point having expected a rountine exam instead I am told I am going to have surgery that day.
The surgery went pretty well and my thumb is fine now.
That is my story. |

Hmm... a couple things:
1: Stitches on my chin when I jumped from one bed to another and fell short of the bed, banging my chin on the wooden edge.
2: Breaking my collarbone 2 months ago tackling a 200-pound kid with no pads (and I’m only like 100 pounds). |

| Wow, I was expecting something more normal, but pain is pain. I never knew that you could break your own collorbone. |

| Yeah, apparently it’s a really easy thing to break since it’s so thin. |
