Alrighty.
First, read my post below regarding why I’m back so soon.
And then let me tack this onto all of that:
I made a card game.
Since I’ve had nothing else to do for the past four weeks, I sat down and worked out a cool game engine, with the story based on a new book I came up with during that same time.
If you’ve played SWCCG, you’ll see a lot of similarities (admitedly there are quite a lot). But there’s some key differences that should mix things up to give my game something unique.
For now, just know that the game is called Deadrock (Deadrock TCG, to be precise), and that it’s based on a far-future conflict for survival between what’s left of Humanity and a galaxy-sprawling super-tech society called the Xenthu. Pretty much my best sci-fi invention to date, and once I find my notebook I’ll start posting cards.
I’ve got the entire 260-card base set written out (by hand!!). Card types include Pesonnel, Events, Epic Events (yes yes, a complete rip-off title from SWCCG, but nothing else works well), Productions, Techs, and Locations (both Key and Support). You win by either isolating control of the powerful curbite found on Deadrock, or by decking the opponent (which can happen quickly).
Anywho. Get excited. |

When I came to Abraham I let him live just a moment longer. When I came to Moses I saved his life more than once. But the salmon... I regret to say I had a hand in its death.

| You bet! If I can get away with it, I’ll post the cards (and rules, once I go back and fill in all the holes) on the DC board; if not, I’ll put ’em here. |

| One of the reasons i never liked SWCCG, and so only collected and gave up playing, was the idea of force draining. It was permanent NPE. Like getting several no one tosses a dwarf on you each turn followed by 4 towers of barad dur. Is that what it will be like in your game? |

There is nothing similar to force draining in my game. The only benefit to controlling locations is that you can ’invade’ an opponent’s home (the human player must defend Crescent and the xenthu player must defend his starships). There are tons of other locations that are up for grabs.
Now, I long ago decided that, to win the game, you had to win 5 rounds (more on what a round is later). I think it would be a good idea to say, "To win a round, you must control the most locations at the end of the round." That would more or less force players to assault each other. Yeah. I like that.
Um, since I just typed this guy into my computer (until now, he, like the other 259 cards in the set, have been sitting in my paper notebook), here’s one of the supporting characters.
(Human Personnel) •Dodrey Rollinson, Top-notch Ace (Curbite N)
"Dod" • Pilot • Warrior
Advantage-3 Power-3 Speed-2 Vitality-2
While operating a starfighter, after each of Dod’s engagements resolves, you may use N curbite to kill the personnel he is engaged with.

Now, curbite is your source of mana/twilight/whatever in Deadrock. I decided not to put curbite costs into my cards for now, because I want to playtest to discover just how much is a lot and how much is a little, if you get my meaning. Like, right now, I have no idea if "Pay 5 curbite" is a big cost or not. So I didn’t bother making up numbers for the sake of having them. |

Ok sounds interesting, bit out of context at the moment so will wait to see the set and the rules.
