Ok, I have a numerous invitations to return to my "duties" as a chosen ones member. and have discussed this over PMs with a couple different members. however, i never have responded to these invitations. part of the reason is because i have a few concerns growing on my mind lately. (please note that even if these concerns are addressed, i still may not return to the chosen ones.)

ok, first, is the issue of exclusion. the very act of having a group is, to an extent, excluding in an of itself. but there are several other things that the chosen ones do that contributes greatly to an attitude of exclusion. the very name "Chosen Ones" gives a vibe of Elitism, and our hierarchical system with ranks, promotions/demotions, all breed dissent and strife within the very members of the group. then the over abundance of chosen ones discussion in forums and threads other than the chosen ones office is not only annoying to other members, but it is also frustrating, disrespectful, and seems to disregard others on the forum.

another thing that bothers me is the lack of helpfulness, and general way in which the chosen ones have missed their objective. yes, i know there are many members who are trying to restore the number of reviews and such, but it hasn’t worked.

so here is what i suggest for the chosen ones:

1. abolish the ranking system of the chosen ones.
2. AP as the founder should take the presidential role, and all other members be equal.
3. make it very easy for new members to join the chosen ones. (and when they join, they are equal with all the other members.)
4. incorporate welcoming new members as part of the chosen ones responsibility.
5. make the chosen ones available to new members if they have any questions.
6. establish welcoming threads in the member’s lounge and DC forums that allow a place for introductions, discuss basic forum terms like "thread", and "DC contest", and also discuss how to get involved on the forums: how to join DC contests, how to make DC’s, and information about the chosen ones. and we can post other related stuff which will aid new members.
7. and basically stay on good terms with other members, making sure we aren’t obnoxious, and a royal pain.

anyways, that is just what i’ve been thinking about.

I thought we were taking everything a tad too seriously...remnants of tOO’s elite culture still around probably. I don’t mind if we implement this. though maybe we should allow a VP too...oh and if worse comes to worse, I wouldn’t mind if we abolished it either.

I think that if we adopt this plan and make it easy for member’s to join, the goal of the Chosen Ones would be difficult to achieve and unenforceable.

There’s really no other way to get people to review unless you incorporate a system of rewards/penalties. Penalties would be virtually non-existent, as would rewards, and thus there would be no reason to review.

As we see already, members of the Chosen Ones are pretty much the ONLY ones who review at all. I think this is because of the hierarchical system in place and its rarely used disciplinary system and more often used reward system.

basically, the chosen ones are supposed to help out everyone on the forums, so if non-chosen ones don’t like us, we either need to disband or reform.

Why should non-Chosen Ones not like us? If the members of the Chosen Ones were removed from the forums, these boards’ overall activity would diminish greatly. True, we set high standards, but then again, we are called the "Chosen Ones" for a reason. If the average Joe showed up and was automatically ranked equally as high as an avid member, such as SoP or Thranduil, then the whole system of ranks and rewards would vanish.

High standards, high rewards, hierarchy.

but their has been a lot of anti-Chosen ones sentiment on the boards lately, and the chosen ones have not been fulfilling their responsibility. i’m not saying that everyone should be part of it, but someone who wants to get on and help out right away, shouldn’t have to be an "inferior" member. and if people stop fulfilling their duties, release them from their position, and if they want to start again, let them back in.

i don’t think hierarchy helps this group.

this is just my thoughts, you don’t have to do anything about it, but i suggest you take a good look over what i’m saying.

The Chosen Ones anti-sentiment has been primarily dependent on the excessive spamming of the member’s lounge with threads like these.

It has to do to a limited extent of some people thinking that we’re the only people who can do anything on the boards. Elitism. But, that’s more of a person-to-person thing than an organizational flaw. We can’t fix that even if we allow everyone to join our organization.

i don’t think hierarchy helps this group.

If a person joins Cobra Cards and is an active reviewer, the Chosen Ones would be glad to recruit that person. On the other hand, though, allowing anyone to join would destroy the integrity of the Chosen Ones as a whole.

Hierarchy doesn’t help this group: hierarchy IS this group. Elitism? Yes. But only because the members ARE elite: faithful and diligent in their Chosen Ones duties, and keeping the Cobra Cards forums alive.

Look at the facts: there are 7 Chosen Ones on the active roster, and every single one of them is in the top 11 in total posts. Active. Elite. Hierarchy.
