But you miss out on the fact that a fetus CAN be biologically compared to a parasite, and a newborn or old person can’t (biologically, mind you... Laughing no examples needed). It can’t lead to it, ’cause it’s not the same thing.
Yes, a fetus "can be biologically compared to a parasite". In the same way, non-contributing members of society (criminals, the handicapped, the old and infirm, many terminally ill people) could be logically called parasites. It is not that hard, once you have justified killing one kind of human "parasite", to start killing other types. Just food for thought.

It is, it means a whole transition of criteria. It’s actually a poor argument, it’s out of concept. Aborting is not comparable to murdering. Completely different motivations, situations, backgrounds, etc. The worst thing to this discussion (not THIS discussion, the abortion discussion in general) is that people always open it comparing it to murder. Not the same.

My brother can be compared to a parasite at times. Like, when he’s hanging on my leg, screaming, and making me drag him all over.

nvm.

Murder is any pre-meditated killing of a human being.
Abortion is the pre-meditated killing of a human being, albeit unborn.
Therefore, abortion is murder.

the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law. In the U.S., special statutory definitions include murder committed with malice aforethought, characterized by deliberation or premeditation or occurring during the commission of another serious crime, as robbery or arson (first-degree murder), and murder by intent but without deliberation or premeditation (second-degree murder).
2. Slang. something extremely difficult or perilous: That final exam was murder!
3. a group or flock of crows.
–verb (used with object)
4. Law. to kill by an act constituting murder.
5. to kill or slaughter inhumanly or barbarously.
6. to spoil or mar by bad performance, representation, pronunciation, etc.: The tenor murdered the aria.

well, hippo thinks 4 and 5 seem to be describing abortion. 1 isn’t, but just because abortion is legal.

Yep, my point exactly. Also, it’s not, if it was describing abortion, there would be an entry "X- To abort", or something. Look up abortion, and check if "X-Murder" pops up there.

The fact is, academia views abortion as okay, and defining it as murder would not help that position. Thus, they’re not going to define abortion as murder. Why would they? It goes against their position on it!

And like it or not, everyone is biased. No matter who you are, you are biased.

It is not clear at all, and your conclusion on the matter is strongly affected by how you view the situation. Murder is the wanton killing of a human life, which is what abortion is. Legally, abortion isn’t murder, but legally in pre-1860s America, wanton killing of a slave wasn’t murder either. So a legal definition has no bearing on a moral debate.
