Hunters kill for sport. But they also eat what they kill. Wasteful hunting solely for the sport is wrong, you should eat whatever you kill.
Humans are not superior in your mind? According to even some of the most LIBERAL teachers out there, humans ARE superior. Completely. Scripture, philosophers, and even liberal theorists agree that man is higher than animals.
And wait, you’re opposed to people killing for sport, but wouldn’t be opposed to deer killing people for sport? |

Agreed.

yeah, from a purely objective viewpoint, humans are still "superior".
look at what we’ve built. look at our organization. look at the fact that we hunt animals, and they don’t hunt us.
however, if you believe in evolution, we had better be watching out. in a million years, the tomato plants could become the most superior life form, and kill us all! forsooth!!
however, just because we are superior doesn’t mean we have a right to kill other animals. it means we have the ability to. as a hunter, i know that there are a good number of unethical hunters. i live in a VERY redneck part of the state, and if nobody has hunted with dynamite, i’m sure they’ve come close. but as long as you kill with a respect for nature (and in my case, a respect for the God who created) and you eat what you kill, hunting is good. it provides food, skill, and sport.
(it is extremely cold however...) |

| hippo also thinks it has been in newspapers how hunters help protect the environment by regulating animal populations and kinda keeping tabs on them. |
hippo is a cop. Hippo need your help. Help hippo
don't help hippo
if you chose help hippo, you can help by giving hints. Hippo knows rules not allow giving things away. |

And we all know how reliable the newspapers are.
But yeah, it’s true.
Hunting is a normal part of nature; lions and tigers do it all the time, right? Humans are carnivorous, (well, omniverious, or whatever) and meat is supposed to be part of our diet.
How the heck are we supposed to get it if we don’t hunt and/or kill livestock? Because there’s no way I’m eating some random roadkill I happen to find lying on the side of the interstate. |

The problem comes from the number of humans that live longer due to advanced healthcare and better living conditions. When we were little more than cave-men or apes, then hunting was natural. But now, we are too good at it with all our advanced technology and huge population, meaning that we can hunt species to extinction almost without thinking about it. That to me is no longer natural, it’s artificial and terrifyingly dangerous.
It’s because we’re superior that we need to be more thoughtful and aware of the environmental consequences of our actions, because they can be huge. We’re not animals anymore, so why should we have to live by their rules and hunt and kill to survive?
I also know of a militant vegetarian who will vehemently claim (with a large amount of supporting evidence) that humans never evolved to eat meat and the notion that we need it is ridiculous.

And bears. Oh my.

And when was that?

If we tried that, PETA and every environmentalist group would start screaming bloody murder. Who knows? The deer might start shooting at us!
Now...what technology would you be referring to that we hunt with that is such a threat? Uranium tipped armor piercing rounds are banned in most states, I believe.
Seriously, though, we use pretty much the same technology as was a couple hundred years ago. Or if you’d like to go back to the bow and arrow, I’m all for bow-hunting.

I know! I know! Let’s kill all the humans so the animals can live longer!
Actually, bunnydaman already suggested something like that...

Poppycock. The tomatoes are to stupid. Our REAL threat are highly evolved pond scum with death rays.
Wait, that would be us, right? (minus the death rays)
I find it interesting that the same people advocating abortion are opposed to hunting. |

Ahh, yes we can get our required protein from other sources, but I know as a Blood Type O, I do much better health wise when I eat animal meat with pretty much every meal than I would if I was trying to eat soy, peanuts or other protein sources. |
