NBarden and mm are really pushing it. Let’s take a vote.
Wisconsin:
Pros: Green Bay Packers. Good team.
Cons: Cheesey state. (this is a pun)
Kansas:
Pros: Top corn producer in the U.S.
Cons: Flat as a pancake, and extremely warm and dry. |
My Trading List
Popcorn is not gooey like fat, and also not crunchy like potato chips, but crispy like lettuce which makes it a healthy snack. |

have you been to Kansas? It can be freezing cold and wet....
It varies, Kansas is a little bit more consistant with the seasons, hot in the summer, cold in the winter. |

Alright, a few facts:
Warning: Pro-Kansas propaganda ahead!
- Kansas was more humid than New Orleans the summer of ’06. (Thank goodness I was in Oblivion, North Dakota!) So much for "dry."
- Kansans have better weather-endurance because: we can survive that kind of horrible humidity, we often have multiple tornadoes in the same storm (I remember one time that we had 6 or 7 within the space of a few hours, and no; they didn’t all go along the same path. It was just a really huge storm.)
- Kansas has, despite its reputation as being one giant farm, a metropolitan area with a population of over 2 million. More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_City_Metropolitan_Area
Compare that to this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisconsin_census_statistical_areas
Sure, there’s some in there bigger than KC area... but how much of that is Wisconsin, eh? Almost none of it, whereas a significant portion of the KC area comes from KS proper (as opposed to that tumor of a city they call KC Missouri....) Heck, the Milwaukee Metro area is smaller than the KC one!
- Wisconsin is the enemy. The only bigger internal adversary in the US is California. .... And maybe Missouri.
And Kansas is not "flat." In fact, there’s even a mountain. (Alright, so there’s only one. A weird bit of trivia my brother keeps throwing at me.) Either way, it’s not flat. Granted, it’s no West Virginia, but still....
More KS pros:
-Barbecue (Texas stole it from us; hence "KC Masterpiece." Which, BTW, is a wonderful restaurant.)
-In 2006 CNN/Money and Money magazine ranked two cities in Johnson County on its list of the "100 Best Cities to Live in the United States."Overland Park was ranked sixth, and Olathe was ranked 13th. (source: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2006/top100/index.html)
Wisconsin doesn’t even show up until 36th.
KS con: You’ve heard that an infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of typewriters with an infinite amount of time would eventually write the entire works of Shakespeare? Well, for our (KC Metro area) road system, they gave one monkey one pencil and ten minutes. There’s at least four different "157th Street" in our neighborhood. Navigational hell. |

Well we can argue who has the better steaks and BBQ, I will say Texas and you will say Kansas, but I like Kansas. It is a pretty neat state. |

Maybe I’m just biased, because I hate humid weather (ironic enough I lived in Florida for the first 5 years of my life).
And the corn. It never ends. |
