because (i think) most people dont pay attention if you use the smile.
personally, i’d prefer to pay attention to the message, i use to read the comments fast and right to the point, because i hate to read those "yes, of course" "you’re right" "fwibble" "no, i cant" "  " comments.
i use the forums mostly for getting information, not smiles
